If you compare it with the teams we will be fighting out the relegation places with , imo it is stronger than 2 or 3 and on a par with 2 or 3 more. Personally think Hull have had a really good transfer window and will be feeling even better with 6 points under their belt already.
Not sure Coventry have really strengthened, feel they’ve gone down a similar route to what we did 2 years ago.
Think Everton may finally get their comeuppance, really poor window from them. Their only saving grace is Moyes, but feel they’ll get dragged into it this year, then you have to hope one of the European sides - Sunderland and Bournemouth might not be able to cope with the schedule. |  |

Palace and Bournemouth have the advantage of having loads of under age players capable of playing in the first team, effectively giving them squads of 30+ . Also surprised how many squads have 4 goalkeepers . | | | |

Hull have started well which will be good for their confidence. Signing 18 new players in the transfer window must be a PL record!
History tells us it’s how difficult it is to stay in this league after promotion from the championship. The gap gets bigger every season. Who’d of thought during the lean years under ME ownership that just a few seasons later we would be spending £200m on players in a transfer window.
Sunderland and Leeds were exceptions to the rule. Will Sunderland suffer from second season syndrome like town did under Burley?
Coventry, Villa, Everton, Fulham, Leeds, Sunderland, Hull, Spurs, Forest, Palace, and possibly Newcastle will be in the mix for relegation along with town.
We did well against Man Yoo in first half and then capitulated in the second half which was like last time in PL. We probably have the best squad since the glory days under Sir Bobby. | | | |

I think Hull have now signed too many who will upset the balance of what's got them here in the first place. They've signed a lot of younger players with no experience in the PL or even a top 5 domestic league. They won't have the same grit that their promotion squad had. If they fall behind first in matches, they'll be dead and buried. | | | |

The only thing I'm especially nervous about is whether we'll miss Emersonn for long. He'll need spells out of the side but I think that he has a little bit of X factor in a way that Flemming won't. Otherwise I'm very happy. Another defender would have been good but I'm sure we will reassess in January. The threat from the flanks and No10 looks very good. I see people worrying that our midfield is overstocked but I completely disagree – it's a great set of options in there, even for this level, and we will need them because there will always be a few injuries knocking around. If you get monstered in that area of the pitch you have no chance and we should be in a position now where, whoever the personnel are, we can compete each week. [Post edited 2 Sep 9:03]

A pretty good window overall. Enciso is an outstanding signing. I didn’t pay much attention to him at the World Cup so hadn’t appreciated how good he’d become. He will be absolutely vital. But it’s all on him. Fatawu is raw and can lack an end product, but he can get past a man from a standing start better than anyone we’ve had for as long as Incan remember. He’s going to be standing up full backs and then making them look like idiots all season. Jury out of Flemming; hopefully not a one season wonder (no reason to think he will be, I just haven’t paid any attention to him before).
Midfield good on paper although has been worryingly absent at times in our first two games. Hopefully more of a platform will develop with a bit more time together and on the training pitch. Much better quality in there now though compared to last time.
Defence a bit meh. Diop’s been a bit underwhelming for me, but his experience, height and physicality could be really important if we’re under the cosh a lot. I’m excited to see how good Ouattara can become; there’s quite a lot of hype around him and he good be the vital quality we need back there when he gets up to speed. |  |

It’s going to come down to some very fine margins, if we can fall on the right side of those more often like we did against Sunderland we’ve got a sniff. We were only ever going to be at this stage with a sniff, at best, and it feels like we’ve done that. The squad isn’t in a perfect place but it was never going to be after 1 window, which is true of everyone else too.
It’s those 20 odd games against the bottom half that are going to be so vital. After Liverpool which is a bit of a free hit I look at the next 10 games, and City away aside it’s going to tell us a lot about how competitive we’re likely to be IMO. It’s a run of games that takes us to the 1/3 point and we probably need to be around 15 points or thereabouts. We don’t need perfection, a survival mentality is very different to a promotion one, need to find somewhere in the region of 1 win in 3. I think we’re capable, certainly going to be important to keep the key men fit though, namely Fatawu, Enciso, Flemming, Lukic, Palacios, Davis. |  | | |

Imo , we should use that midfield to our advantage. It our strongest area by far , so why not play a 3 man midfield and use it positively ? 3-5-2 is hardly a world away from our current set up as we play 3 CBs in most games anyway. | | | |

yeah not saying it's the wrong approach, you have to get some players who know the league.
If we go down, which in probability there's a high chance, i don't see many hanging around and it will be another rejig of the squad again that's hard to maintain and keep bouncing back. At some point we need to have a more settled squad but it's going to be hard to do unless we stay up. | | | |
