A filthy tackle. Annoying we had to wait for it to be confirmed.

VAR is there to overturn it if it's wrong. We know VAR isn't perfect by a long stretch but all I have heard so far suggests it was a clear red. Disasi will probably view it differently when he sees it back.

It was a clear red, but not aggressive or using excessive force - none of our players were incensed by the challenge, it was mistimed rather than nasty. I don't know what some of you are seeing.

I haven't seen it but listening on the radio the initial reaction from the commentator was muted. However, Brenner then said the reaction of the Town players suggested it was a very bad challenge. Either you or he is wrong about their reaction.

Brenner then, seeing a replay, said it was a very bad challenge above his knee and a clear red card.

Brenner needs his eyes testing. Its a ball cushioned back to Clark & Disasi stretches for it, misses and studs to Clark's shin. It's a red these days, but certainly not a nasty challenge. As for the angry Town players, yes they are looking for a red, but not outraged with Disasi about the challenge.

1... it is a modern day red.
2... You think refs get every decision right? McGuires handball?

To answer your second point, I think Mullet was referring to this: "It was a clear red, but not aggressive or using excessive force"

Which rule makes a challenge that is simply mistimed and neither aggressive nor using excessive force a clear red card?

Brenner's forgetting that unlike other players Clarke's socks and pads only go halfway up his shins - was definitely below the knee

Think it was badly timed as opposed to malicious, but really was very dangerous.

What you haven't understood is that the outcome of that was not in Disasi's control - if Clarke had his foot planted when he hit him it's a potential leg breaker - definitely a red card, because he's made a reckless, out of control, studs up challenge endangering an opponent.

It wasn't reckless or out of control, more a raking down the shin... As Thomas Frank suggested on MOTD, reds aren't always given for that.

Personally I thought it was a red but look at the players reactions, they crowd the ref wanting a sending off, there's no anger or aggression towards Disasi, they know it was high and mistimed rather than dangerous.

Except that if Clarke had planted his right foot rather than pulling back after sidefooting the ball away, it would have been a leg breaker. I agree it was mistimed rather than malicious, but it emphatically was dangerous and out of control and a definite red.

Exactly. Just because it was mistimed and without intent doesn't mean it wasn't dangerous. Just watched it back on MOTD this morning and it gets worse each time.

Just as well Clarke was on the move otherwise that would have been his season over.

100%. Disasi didn't mean it, but it was reckless and luckily no damage done.
