It's a really tricky situation- pushing against these idiots is only going make them push back even harder, the only way forwards is to invite them in and have them feel seen/listened/heard and of course, more importantly, if the quality of life goes up in the country, suddenly, miraculously, less of this sort of thing will happen. Problem is, with the first thing you have a lot of people trying to drive wedges as hard as possible, for media clicks and political power. Artificially increases the alienation, pushes people to the extreme and negates compromise or even rational debate.
With the second, that is tremendously difficult, especially with the current global environment. It's over-promising and under-delivering on prosperity which has got us into this mess in the first place. |  |

people demonstrating against the rnli are disgraceful morons. the rnli helps people in need, saves lives at sea, and has nothing to do with politics or immigration policy. anyone who demonstrates against the rnli is an unpleasant half wit.
BUT the article doesn't actually say what you claim. it says the station closed after demonstrations, it doesn't say it closed because of demonstrations. it is stating two things knowing that an implied causation will be assumed. the only statement from the rnli about why the station is temporarily closed is:
“At times, it is not unusual for lifeboat stations around the UK and Ireland to be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance or other operational requirements."
in terms of what is written in the article there is nothing more to establish the reason for the temporary closure. |

The "delaying ambulances" criticism has been levelled at Extinction Rebellion protests, which have caused delays to transport infrastructure. The big differences here are:
1) people are publishing the home addresses of RNLI crew members and other volunteers online
2) the Extinction Rebellion actions were avowedly peaceful, and they did not resist arrest (beyond time wasting tactics) or act with aggression towards the Police or bystanders
3) ER protestors don't cover their faces, and wait for arrest and prosecution because they want their day in court.
4) the Patriots probably want a physical confrontation, ultimately, when they have sufficient numbers present. Some of their members have already used violence against Police. | | | |

What is the purpose of you posting this? The reason they have closed seems quite clear, if you look up the RNLI statement in full you would see that the section of the statement you have picked up on to suggest some reasonable doubt about the cause for the closure would seem to have been included to reassure people that lifeboat stations do go off-service from time to time, and that contingency plans are in place to ensure search and rescue cover is still provided in the area:
“Portsmouth lifeboat station has been temporarily off-service since 10 September. We hope to have the lifeboat station back on service as soon as possible.”
"Search and rescue cover continues to be provided through established contingency arrangements, including flank RNLI stations and other declared assets.
“At times, it is not unusual for lifeboat stations around the UK and Ireland to be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance or other operational requirements.
“In such circumstances, established contingency arrangements are put in place to ensure continued search and rescue cover.”

If you’re talking about the environment protests then you’re comparing apples with pears. These people are targeting and threatening the RNLI. Environmental protestors haven’t targeted emergency services, or threatened them, as far as I’m aware. IIRC there were examples of them letting emergency service vehicles through when they were caught up in congestion. Very different motivations and ideologies. |  |
