| That must have been an awkward call to the RNLI on 14:33 - Sep 21 with 1756 views | OldFart71 | Whilst I do not agree with the RNLI being used in this way they are being put in a very difficult position. If the British government wants to pick these people up then they should have their own boats and personnel. I am aware that they would still be targeted by some and this is where a huge problem lies because those that are far right tend to be the one's causing trouble when there are any protests and I believe they would achieve more by allowing law abiding people to be heard and seen that they do not agree with mass immigration. | | | |

I guess that if it’s a case between letting people drown out at sea or picking them out of the water, most decent governments will do the latter. It’s not of wanting to do it but more a case of doing the decent and right thing. I’m pretty sure that a lot of people won’t be happy until they see dead bodies floating up on the English coast. You don't agree with the RNLI responding to requests for help people in danger of drowning? Bold take! The RNLI picked up just 5% of those coming over. 95% are picked up by Border force. The government do use their own boats except when there is a danger to life. The rest of your post is codswallop. People can and do protest peacefully. Theres no meaningful restrictions applied which prevent it. They can also vote for representatives based solely on those views. We can't "achieve more by allowing" these things. They've never not been able to.

It's this kind of nonsense from people who pretend they're being reasonable that amplifies the issues for the strictly neutral RNLI. Would you deny people ambulance treatment based on 'what' they are?

To ensure the safety of the dozens of people sat precariously in an overcrowded dingy in one of the busiest and dangerous shipping lanes I think. I'm sure that's what they meant.

Awful isn't it? 'I don't agere with the RNLI volunteers risking their lives to indiscriminately save people at sea'. Utterly hideous. What next? 'Boody paramedics, can't they just let the foreign ones die'? When did some of us become like this? Have we always been like this? Is it possible for us to not be like this?

Without wishing to pile on the particular poster it is pretty shameful that this kind of weird softly bumbling niceness whilst being really really inhumane and at a tangent to how we have been as a country, whilst wishing we go back to being a certain way as a country, and it is a stain on us as a nation. We need a different way of dealing with the non British people drowning at sea, if we must help them at all, our people shouldn't be risking their life in the name of them, it should be other people in darker more authoritarian type uniforms who won't be so nice to them. Perhaps before they rescue people drawing their last breath they should request ethnicity details and stand off if they answer wrong. [Post edited 22 Sep 17:08]

It’s sure is a funny old place we’re in. The pervasiveness of these types of views across society is mind boggling to me. As you say it’s inhumane. It’s uncaring and a complete failure to show any sort of normal human compassion or regard towards fellow humans, just because of where they are from. It’s the sort of behaviour we’d normally ascribe to sociopaths, yet because it’s demonstrated against refugees for some reason it’s been normalised and there’s nowhere near as much pushback against it as there should be.

It's also painfully (and dare I say it; deliberately) misdirected. Get angry at the people who are massively profiting at putting these people in serious danger, or get angry at the people who's sole purpose is to volunteer their own time to save lives. Sadly the latter is a more visible and easier target. [Post edited 22 Sep 22:52]

| That must have been an awkward call to the RNLI on 00:07 - Sep 23 with 578 views | Kievthegreat | Seems he's either fixed his boat or got a new one. Been busy harassing the RNLI on active duty at sea This is apparently what Daniel Thomas did next,
which will hopefully land him in jail
But still feel the fact he's mobilising fascists like a Poundshop Mosley to try to force hateful future on us all should worry decent people.
(not my video) — Jane (@localnotail.bsky.social) 2026-09-22T18:18:24.764Z 5. After around 30 hours at sea, the dinghy was intercepted by the RNLI and those on board transferred to two lifeboats. Two lifeboat personnel tried to secure the empty dinghy. Thomas yelled abuse and knifed the dinghy to deflate it - with a rescuer still on board. — Emma Yeomans (@yeomans.bsky.social) 2026-09-22T17:56:24.406Z At least the police were on hand to "facilitate a peaceful protest" in Gosport though... 11. Hampshire Police say six people who took part in the protest in Gosport have been arrested, including for assaulting an emergency worker. The force is making inquiries into what happened at sea and hasn't confirmed identity of the arrests. — Emma Yeomans (@yeomans.bsky.social) 2026-09-22T21:59:44.030Z

Sadly, I think stabbing a mostly empty dinghy is likely to come to nothing, but at least it is something https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/art
