That's the real reason, not the official one.

The match should be played.
Ireland should let Israel score whenever they get the ball.
Ireland should kick the ball into their own net whenever they can.
A scoreline of Israel 200: 0 Ireland will send a very strong message to the world that any opposition to Israel is not to be tolerated and labelled antisemitic - because it is. It just is. Don't apply reason to it. Don't complicate things by bringing in thoughts of humanity. Anyone who calls out genocide is really an antisemite. Normal Palestinians aren't really being killed, it's only Hamas, future Hamas members, Hamas wives, Hamas sisters and Hamas daughters, they are ALL guilty, so it's not a genocide. Everybody knows that and it's only nasty antisemites who don't support Israel.
I should be banned for this post. Obviously.
This thread should be pulled. Obviously.
All opposition to Israel should be banned and all evidence of it scrubbed from history.

Come on Ireland, do the right thing for Israel and the world, lose 200:0

Whilst that's ridiculous and going way too far, it doesn't actually feel like it is.

...which is ridiculous.

Take away the actual tragic issues and the desperate, serious state that the human species is in, and the levels of bare-faced public lying by the likes of Net*ny*hu, Trump, Putin et al are actually totally fkn hilarious. Like a clown show. But of course these sh!theads are busy destroying the collective human soul and the very world itself.

How come supposedly advanced, civilised, 'western', democratic countries are allowing this state of affairs. Is it us, the electorates, who are not forcing the issue?

Why are we letting this happen? Don't we have a responsibility to the future and a respect for our predecessors to balance with our selfish, ravenous, superficial desires in the present?

Surely its just basic human decency that countries involved in genocide and ethnic cleansing should not be invited to participate in international sporting events

Imagine having a public facing job like that and regularly having people scream in your face (either literally or online) every day that you shouldn't be doing your job, or doing it differently, telling you how you should be using *your* platform you've worked hard to establish, because of a conflict on the other side of the globe that you have zero influence over.

Dara is right. Governing bodies should be making these decisions, not the guy on the ground. (Yes I know, "will someone think of the poor millionaire footballers/pop stars" and all that - point stands though)

Those players have been hung out to dry, as has the Irish FA, for that matter, but politicians love passing the buck, I spose.

I'd agree with that. Yes, as functioning adults we all have a responsibility to humanity, but where there's a group, with a very clear authority structure of several layers on top of the people 'at the coal face', then those layers of authority need to be setting the actions (or non-actions) for the group.

If an individual isn't happy with what the authorities have decided to do (or not to do) then that individual has EVERY right to take action on their own. If the authority then punishes that individual for not following the party line, then the authority needs to be bloody sure that it has a morally sound position to do so.

In this case I think the majority view is so strong that the FAI ought to have acted, but not having done so they would be extremely foolish to try to sanction any individual who decides to take their own action.

Not if Hamas starts committing genocide.

Do many of the Palestinian players support Hamas?

"if" I added this, because I don't know

So the line is drawn at committing genocide, and not simply supporting a terrorist organization?

I imagine so, otherwise it would be chaos surely?

Half the countries involved could easily call for others to be banned for supporting terrorism. Would you ban Ireland for instance if someone like James McClean spoke up about Bloody Sunday etc?

I do recall this place used to lose its shit about James McClean whenever the poppy shirts came out.

Can’t remember who or even whether they were usual suspects.

Im pretty sure McClean is from the Creggan Estate, so has plenty of good reasons to not wear a poppy if thats what he chooses

With any luck we will beat the Isralis by the same scoreline.

I think there might have been an Olympics in Nazi Germany also in 1936 and there was no boycott of that ( Great Britain achieved a 10th place finish in the overall medal table. ).
