I understood the reason for the second yellow was for ‘gesturing or acting in a provocative, derisory or inflammatory way'. I’m not sure mimicking Steve ‘interesting’ Davis falls into any of those categories. | |

Perhaps the most worrying thing for me is that its being a gunshot was initially reported in Reuters (a supposedly unbiased news outlet), itself perhaps suggesting confirmation bias.

He’d been celebrating for a minute before doing his pool cue thing with the flag.
Removing the corner flag is a bookable offence. I’m not sure the referee should undertake EDI training for upholding that part of the laws.
I don’t believe it’s been communicated as yet what the yellow was issued for. Maybe our somewhat hysterical posters who initially berated the player and are now berating the official, might pause until that’s available. And their ignorant lapdogs might do the same. |  |
