Weird behaviour. Especially as he is a Muslim Arab. Should face a lengthy ban imo. Although an Iranian did a similar “gun firing” gesture in the World Cup and wasn’t suspended so who knows. UEFA may take a different stance to FIFA.

| Israel v Ireland already going well then… on 22:47 - Sep 24 by Swansea_Blue | To me it looks like he’s playing snooker rather than aiming a gun, but I’m sure the ref had a better look at it than me from a picture on the BBC. Beggars belief but then is also so believable. I hadn’t seen this when I posted a bit earlier about the case for a ban. The case just got bigger. |
The case hasn’t got bigger. They should be kicked out because of their genocide. Not because one of their young players made a bit of a dick of himself.

Yeah, that’s true. This is nothing compared to the actual case and I shouldn’t have over-egged it. The case stands quite clearly on their genocide against Palestinians.

It is an odd one. I have no knowledge of the criteria of who or why a country gets banned. Russia have invaded a neighbour and continue their onslaught and are banned. Israel seem determined to keep going until the total annihilation of Palestine and are not banned. I'm not sure I've ever seen or heard any explanation why one is in and one is out.

You are probably right but in the current turbulent situation caused by UEFAs inability to enforce a legitimate ban on Israel and doubling down on teams playing them, it was an accident waiting to happen. There is a microscope on these games and the football authorities are totally to blame. This does not auger well for the RoI game. [Post edited 25 Sep 12:19]

His snooker action seems to have changed considerably between those two pictures and not sure I've ever seen anyone close an eye playing pool. But anyhow they shouldn't be playing soooo....

Maybe lose the kneeling and recoil as well to help avoid misconceptions

Maybe but I feel sorry for him that he's been accused of this, much as I disagree with Israel's continued involvement in international sport. Resting a pole in an open bridge and pushing forwards the rear hand it is a poor way to imitate firing a rifle for me anyway (don't see the attempt to imitate recoil personally).

The fingers pointing down makes it a pool shot. Even the 'recoil'is just like bashing a ball in down the pub. The dirty pig.

I’m happy to give the benefit of the doubt that it was a flourish when potting the black but remove the corner flag, you give the ref the chance to yellow card you.

For sure (sympathy was more that very many people now believe he did something very ugly).

It's as if people want to attack them as Jews rather than attack them for their actions. |
Saddam Hussein was portrayed as a modern Hitler all the time!

Especially when it’s about a minute after you’ve scored having already celebrated with teammates and then jogged 15 yards to do it I think the gun/cue can be debated and deserves benefit of the doubt but arguably yellow justified even if you remove the political element!

I would suggest its clearly due to it being the most famous historical genocide by absolute miles and the genocide that all other genocides are compared to. All the genocides you list would all have been compared to and measured against the most famous historical genocide and as will all future genocides. But im pretty sure you know that. The best way to avoid comparisons with previous sickening genocidal regimes is to avoid committing genocide

| Israel v Ireland already going well then… on 22:11 - Sep 24 by baxterbasics | The point of the post is absolutely not to compare Israel with Nazi Germany. But I think you knew that, and decided to spew anyway. |
What was the darker day? Playing a game against Nazi Germany in 1936 or against the genocidal state of Israel in 2026. It couldn't be any clearer. Its a direct comparison. Strange enough that yer trying to deny it when the evidence is right before your eyes

And the best way to avoid accusations of antisemitism and deliberately targeting the Israeli state as Jews is to avoid comparing their actions to the nazis when there are plenty of less problematic examples you use. Especially the reasons have been clearly pointed out. The everyone can condemn the appalling actions of the Israeli state without any issues of holocaust inversion.

I will risk the accusations for the sake of historical accuracy. Has will countless historians, both present and future. If you don't wish to be compared with abhorrent genocidal states then don't commit genocide
