Almost as if the owners are used to just acting how they want and didn’t think they’d get caught. Surprised they didn’t just try and by the PL and hide it all away.

I'm sure I read that Citeh can only submit evidence which hasnt been used before as part of the appeal so that will be interesting.

Having been sad enough to read the full 40 page doc then I can understand why, quite rightly, there is such a call for expulsion but there will be repercussions on other teams whatever happens and in whatever league.
There is precedents for points deductions based on Everton and Forrest etc and should also be for the blantent lying and trying to get away with it. There could even be criminal charges of fraud can be proven.
Preferred idea is for a rediculius points deduction which is rolling over the seasons u til it gets to zero. Relegate them down the leagues while allowing the teams in those leagues to enjoy the financial ‘benefits’ of playing a larger team in the league (assuming they don’t just close the club. The club must work within the financial restrictions of each league (which will weaken them) and once they’ve hit the bottom, had to redress their financial situation to be in line with where they are actually playing, then they can try and rebuild.
I am missing something obvious that someone more informed can point out to me or counter argue but they need to be hit the hardest way possible | | | |

This was my concern reading the outcome also- their commercial income did drop a little from 2019 onwards, but their sponsors have remained consistent throughout. From 2019 did the sponsors suddenly go from paying £11m per year to the full ~£150m? |  |

I think the fairest sentence would be deducting them 450odd points (based on previous punishments for infringements) and that continues through the leagues. Say they get another 70 points this season, that means next season in the Championship the start on -380 and so on and so forth. It doesn’t put the club immediately into extinction. |
The fairest sentence would be to kick them out of the Premier League and for the Football League to insist that they start at the bottom of the pyramid.
This is what happened to Rangers in Scotland (in different circumstances) and effectively to Wimbledon fans when their team was franchised out. And many Man City fans seem content with that.
There will be a huge knock on effect through the Leagues if Man City are expelled this year, rather than merely relegated due to a huge points deduction. Three Clubs would come up from the Championship, but only two would go down to the Championship, so only two would go down to League One, but three would come up, so only two would go down to League Two etc all the way through the pyramid.
Some Clubs finishing third bottom in their League are going to have their futures transformed. Some Managers who are hovering above the relegation zone may be given longer to sort things out if there are only two relegation places; some players won't be relegated and so will stay with their clubs rather than seeking a move: whole careers will be impacted by this, Butterfly Effect style. |  | | |

Yup it’s a positive stance and very good news for Town.
And there’s such a bow wave now from so many voices and bodies, real outrage and anger.

Not sure it's particularly bold. It's the last desperate thrashing about of a dying animal. They're backed into a corner and banged to rights, so they have nothing to lose at this point. I know it's Scottish football but I'm surprised we didn't at least look at Keith while we were in League One seeing as he managed to somehow pick up results against full teams of players. |  | | |

The problem with that approach is that nobody will play for a team with nothing to play for.
It is better for sporting integrity for them to be expelled and restart at the bottom of the pyramid. If any Man City "old boys" (James Milner, Joe Hart?) want to turn out for them and help them win their first promotion, that's all good. Otherwise they will have the pick of non-League players, and will generally have the ability to always bring in players from the League above, purely on fanbase, if they stick with them, as Rangers fans did.
Both Wrexham (different cause, but similar in effect) and Rangers have demonstrated that with good governance and decent management it is possible to make fairly consistent upward progress until Championship level, where the realities of Financial Regulations kick in against parachute payment teams.
To be expellee, and have to work up from the bottom of the pyramid, will take at least as many seasons as the number that they have been found guilty of cheating for, so there is some natural justice in that, too.
The older, real Man City fans miss the Paul Dickov and Shaun Goater days, and I think quite a few of them fancy the adventure. | | | |
