I respect BDS for example for his choice not to go anymore as he stood by his word, don’t agree with it but as I say, have to respect it.

All those happy faces on Saturday in the crowd, not liking Nigel and Mark would have been the last thing on their minds when celebrating the winning goal 😂

My thoughts exactly mate, sad that some people will let their political alignment and views on Ashton get in the way of supporting the club and enjoying these great moments. Oh well, each to their own, I enjoyed O'Sheas header on Saturday as did the other 30k in the ground!

Come on mate, you should know by now that if you don't agree with the general concensus on here, you must be on a 'wind up', it can't possibly be that you have a different viewpoint haha!

If you're directly comparing the incident with things like the invasion of Ukraine and the slaughter of innocents in Palestine, and many other things I could mention, but don't want to turn this into a novel then obviously you haven't got your head on straight, so I'm assuming your not. As for the " Club buying into the horrible ". I'd say it was one person doing that, not the many thousands that attend or watch by other methods our games. Not the hard working staff or even the owners, who I'm sure had no idea till the story broke. Personally I've many far better things to concern myself with. If you wish to include me as " buying into the horrible ", then guilty as charged, and pleased to be so. I'm not perfect, I make errors of judgement, I'm also pleased to know that there are those who never do, a lesson I'll try and learn.

Some people really need to see things from other peoples point of view sometimes. Just because you don't care or it doesn't bother you doesn't mean it isn't a big deal. People from different backgrounds, race, religion or sexual orientation will have felt extremely let down and isolated by those events. All the hate and derision they read online almost ratified by the club they love. The people that spew hate given the platform by the community that was once a safe haven of inclusion. Trust broken in that one moment. You may have reveled in it because it echoed your views. You have the luxury of saying "oh he's a bit racist but he's harmless" etc because you're not the target of his hate. What is nothing to you actually affected some people deeply. I know empathy isn't cool anymore but I still value it. Sorry to waffle on incoherently but the real lack of understanding around this frustrates me. Yes Ashton has done a great job on the football side of thing but that doesn't stop him being a total fool. [Post edited 12 Oct 22:17]

Good post. Understanding and empathy have been in short supply in the UK lately. I get quite confused by all this when I think about it, because we should extend the same principle to those who supported the club hosting Farage and all he stands for. We should try to understand. But I'm not sure how you can make sense of the club doing something that runs against its supposed values of inclusivity, etc. Nor can I make sense of why Ashton lying to us is acceptable. I've tried to see it from the other side, but I can't. The only way I can describe it is via tribalism where people are prepared to debase themselves and their club because of political loyalties. I missing something significant? Maybe I'm over-thinking it and it's simply as case of anything goes for some as long as we're doing ok on the pitch?

Does joining said club make you jealous of Ed Sheeran, or just a fan of people who are jealous of Ed Sheeran?
