| Best inexpensive sofa beds? on 10:20 - Oct 12 with 679 views | soupytwist | Not sure if this will meet the budget criteria but I got a very decent sofa bed from this place a few years back https://www.sitandsleep.co.uk/ It's a bit out in the middle of nowhere and their opening hours aren't the most convenient if you work regular office hours but worth a look. | | | |

Thanks, but I should have added that I’m in North Yorkshire & unable to travel further than Ripon-Harrogate-Leeds, hence reliance on prior recommendations as I may need to buy without trying out.

Good point, would certainly prefer no home assembly needed!

You might be best to search Facebook marketplace locally (and maybe eBay) and then arrange "(Wo)man and a van" delivery if you one that is suitable, but then also buy a new one to two inch deep memory foam mattress topper. Our experience with a. IKEA sofa bed is that you have to compromise between firm or soft: firm is likely to be less comfortable as a sofa, but soft would sag very quickly if used often as a sofa. Firm plus topper gives a reasonable night's sleep.

Thanks for the idea, but no - has to be sofabed, small space & nightly use for a couple of weeks (initially anyway, maybe less frequently after that).

Having slept on and owned a few over the years, I can't honestly say I can recommend any of them, including IKEA sofa and day beds. The latter was probably the best as it had a proper mattress on it but was so heavy it's impossible to move without dismantling. If I really had to buy one now, I think it would be a futon.

I'd have gone for a futon but for the thought that they're just too low for most older people. Interesting re day beds, thanks.
