Their fans will be even more insufferable now.

Mind you saying that, Newcastle haven't come out of the changing room yet.

VAR nonsense again.

Clear as day penalty for Newcastle there.

It certainly looked it on first view but maybe Cov player gets a toe on the ball first. However Cov may well win this but they still look as easy to cut open as we found them last year and are still looking for set plays to get scoring opportunities. They’ve certainly ridden their luck and Newcastle’s finishing has been utterly woeful and they’re also vulnerable at the back especially when faced with pace and players with good feet as Rudoni showed a few minutes ago.

And then Botman does that!

Coventry invited that strike there and paid for it. Nervy 20 mins for them.

Hopefully Newcastle are this shite when they come to Portman Road. They’ve been woeful.

Im actually really enjoying this. As a neutral this game is so headless chicken its actually incredible.

All luck to Coventry and just woeful mistakes by Newcastle time after time.

Fair play to the sky blue army

This is why i've said from the start of the season - concentrate on what we do and don't waste emotional energy worrying about other clubs do until much later in the season.

I reckon there are a fair few lower table clubs bricking it right now given the points total of all 3 promoted clubs. I wonder if some were counting on it being another Soton/Leicester/Ipswich season.

I’m amazed how diminished Newcastle looked. They appear a team of individuals, without the talent they’ve lost or the cohesion Eddie Howe gave them. They were as insipid as their horrible kit.

Well that and the likes of Tonali and Guimarães

I noticed this also, Nico Gonzalez is a great midfielder if you want a QB to ping over the top but their problem seems to be that they have no-one left in midfield who you can give it to feet.

Really seemed evident they lacked Guimaraes or Tonali on that pivot and press resistance. Interested to see Newcastle Vs Brentford on current form as they play similar transitions but Brentford have Sangare, Damsgård and even Janelt whereas as Toon only have Steur left who is young to say the least

Just caught up with the highlights and WOW were Newcastle a shambles at the back. The build up to Covs third goal was like watching a circus act.

Cov made national news this morning ... apparently they've won a PL game at home!... The media love in continues , which does make me anti Coventry unfortunately.

Coventry's fixtures look pretty favourable for the next 2 months. Be interesting to see how they get on.

What’s wrong with scoring from set pieces?

Not many complained about O'Shea's late winner on Saturday, save Arbeloa.

My thoughts:
(i) Coventry ran out clear winners. I don't see that the BBC are wrong to call it a "thumping win".
(ii) All types of goals count. Each team can decide how it tries to score them. There is no extra point for morality or purity.
(iii) If we beat an established PL team 4-1 and our rivals were grudging about it, I think we would have strong views on that.
(iv) Probably best to consider the effect of a game (in terms of the insufferability of fans and otherwise) after it has finished. Our result against Fulham is a good indicator of that.
(v) I hope Jack Rudoni's nan gets well soon.

Not necessarily in that order.

I wouldn't say there's anything "wrong" in getting goals from set plays, but more the proportion of your goals that you might get from set plays , as opposed to the number of goals you get in open play.. eg reliance on set pieces , throw ins, corners to get your goal.

So say for example a team's game plan consists of sitting back, and hitting on the break most of the game ...or playing for corners or throw ins, in order to get the ball into the opponents box (because the only real way they can attack) is that playing to your strengths or just a lazy way of trying to win a game because to take the fame to opponents would mean you'd be more likely top lose / concede?

For us v MC on Saturday , Id actually be happy if we sat back and adopted that tactic for this particular game ... but I wouldn't be if Town did it most of their games.. I think Coventry adopt this approach for most of their games. Thats all Im saying really... (obviously not very well lol !)

They done well. Fair play to them, looked almost dead and buried without a goal and 6 points from nowhere. Pretty impressive answer to their start to the season.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

Newcastle look a far cry from the team that tore us apart last time we were in this league.

Same applies to various other teams, Bournemouth look poor as well.
