Whilst that may have gone, you can still play 01/02 with an updated database.

01/02 is free to download and play, and there's a nice little tool that makes the game work across Windows and MacOS
Even runs on Android if you've got a suitable tablet to use.

He's literally taken it down in the last hour, you might've snuck in just in time.

Will have a look at this later. Still annoyed by how crap the most recent FM is.

Tragic.
I started up a save a few years back of the original CM98 with the workarounds to run it on a new PC, and found it as fun and at times painful as I did when I played it in 1998! I scraped 2nd in the "First Division" with most of our star players screaming to leave all season and was duly sacked weeks into the Premier League after a poor start. So it's still quite realistic....
Championship Manager 2 (which this game is more a less exactly like) was also a big favourite of mine. Signing Ian Rush on a free and pairing him with a combo of Marshall/Mathie was good business on that game!

THE single best management game ever. That sweet spot between complex enough to be a challenge, but not so extensive that you spend more time on individual tactics etc. than on game time.
I still play it on a regular basis - Bobby Petta is a particularly under-rated gem if you play him in the right position as a No.10 just behind two attackers...

Tom Craine has just started a really good podcast where him and a different guest each week play champ man 97/98.
I've been meaning to set it up on my laptop because the nostalgia is overwhelming.
