| Kyle Edwards on 11:40 - Oct 16 with 1266 views | Cheltenham_Blue | Was only on a short term at Northampton until the end of last season. That expired and no one moved in for him. Guess he felt he would rather play for Shifnall and have a chance of being picked up by a league club again than not play and never be seen again. There's an awful lot of players in his age group that are just out of contract and playing nowhere. [Post edited 16 Oct 11:40]

| Kyle Edwards on 11:51 - Oct 16 with 1201 views | Nutkins_Return | Absolutely gutted for him. Lovely guy with the biggest smile in that L1 promotion. Absolutely bags of talent. Mentioned before but he was the player in the first few weeks after the game changer signing spree that most excited watching him in the flesh. He looked like a player that could play in the prem in the future. Ultimately his final ball let him down at times and I think he wasn't always trusted without the ball to do the defensive side. But I think his development was ruined by injury and he has lost a lot from his game to drop down the levels. Should have been a championship player ripping up that division down the wings and having a very good career. In really hope he can get fully fit and have a really good last few years playing and enjoying himself. Thanks for the memories Kyle! | |

Rekeem is doing well at Barrow currently, scoring a few and hoping to bounce back into the EFL quickly.

He appeared in 32 league games in our League 1 promotion season, although 29 of those were from the bench. Suggests he could have had a better career, although he got a bad hamstring injury when on loan at Oxford. He's played less than 10 games in each of the last 4 seasons.

I thought they were both ace when we signed them.

Remember being at Cheltenham away and proper tight little ground and standing close to Rekeem Harper warming up with a few others and his ball skills were class and a good size. Thought he looked a good signing. Then he was completely anonymous in the game. Just didn't have the head for the game and let it drift past him. Kyle came on and was electric though in retrospect it was final finish or ball that just didn't happen for him in that game. At the time it felt like he was Ronaldinho and just 'unlucky' not to score or assist 2-3.

The strangest one for me is Macaulay Bonne. From a Championship player in 2022 to non league in 2024. Playing now at step 7 of the pyramid.

Rather generous to blame injuries, his troubles only really started in 2023/24 by which point he was 25 years old and had a career total of 6 goals and 1 assist. One of those goals being a cross Alternative view is that he just wasn’t actually that good, excellent at beating a man showing him towards the corner and that’s about it. Incredibly fanciful to think that a player with that kind of output in the third division would end up in the Premier League See also: Bersant Celina

Ladapo too. Regular third division scorer who only scored 1 goal when we loaned him out and hasn’t found the net for anybody since we released him 2 years ago.

I think both of those players would have benefited from an extended period with McKenna. Celina was close to returning wasn’t he? Edwards, from memory, wanted to be a bit more of a main man, starting games etc. Jack Clarke is a great example of someone who has knuckled, playing the super sub role and improved - arguably first choice on the left now. Grass is not always greener.
