| Walton not good enough 15:45 - Oct 17 with 13105 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | You need your keeper to be having a worldie at the Ethiad to have any chance, but for all that hard work we are putting in as outfield players and managed to get back into game. Both looked savable but Jesus that second, not good. | |

| Walton not good enough on 23:31 - Oct 17 by Paramedic | Get real. He also made some good saves in he game. Don't forget where we've come from. |
We’ve spent ridiculous amounts of money over 5 windows, which has included 3 separate goalkeepers. If you’re happy with still having the guy from league 1 fair enough. He’s been decent in the EFL but I think it’s a problem. Our recruitment has been very good this summer, miles ahead of 2024 but this is a position that alludes us. Got a very sensitive fanbase when it comes to a few of the old guard haven’t we!

"Got a very sensitive fanbase when it comes to a few of the old guard haven’t we!" Yes very sensitive. Unfortunately we also have an entitled one in some quarters. Losing 3-2 at Man City is not a marker of where we are. They put 3 passed Liverpool on their own patch last week so although we lost today, thats not a bad result today hence get real. Sick of players being singalled out. Walton more than deserves his chance and I hope he gets a long run between the sticks.

Losing to Manchester City at the Ethiad by a single goal is a fantastic effort indeed. We should be proud of the team and efforts, that’s what makes it almost a little more disappointing, legit had a chance to get something. GON another great tactical display. I thought they scored three goals that went in the middle of the goal and our keeper had some kind of contact on all of them. I don’t think he has very good reflexes getting down personally, if you disagree that’s completely fine, the club have obviously tried to upgrade plenty of times so make of that what you will. If you read the posts you’d see my disappointment is in not getting it right over the summer in a key position more than anything.

The answer has always been Walton in my opinion. He will get better with more games for sure. I just can't subscribe to the fact that he is not good enough. He really is. Yes he may make mistakes, but for now I'm so happy with what we have. 2 mil spent in he summer? This club is on a mission. Wouldn't it be great to get behind some of the players that were there in League 1 to enhance their careers in the premiership. I've stood on cold terraces at some far reached places on cold Tuesday nights. Lets get behind our lads please.

I couldn’t disagree more but if you think he’s the answer then fair enough, you’re of course very entitled to your opinion. We could have David Button in goal and I’d be getting behind him if I was the game, I only get few a year because I’m abroad. This however is a fan forum, where we see all allowed to have an opinion after the game.

| Walton not good enough on 20:10 - Oct 17 by Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | The fact this has got 10 upvotes really does highlight the state of this! Graham Le Saux literally said one for the cameras for the second, perfect height, every keeper saves them, WTF they weren’t worldie saves. A worldie save is like the Bristol or Milwall keeper made against Azon last year. These were just bog standard goal keeping for shots at perfect height outside the box. Yet no criticism for the ones conceded. Man it’s pretty delusional! [Post edited 17 Oct 20:11]

Ha, well if that well known goalkeeper Graham Le Saux says so...

No, Outtarra got us back in it. He didn't win it.

Fecking hell, you keep pushing this narrative that everyone's disagreeing with you because of being sensitve and loving the old guard. Maybe some people just have a different opinion. Maybe you're not the font of all knowledge. You have Frimmers in your corner FFS. Lovely chap, but he's been wrong about everything football for YEARS on here. Maybe have a look at how many downarrows your OP has and reflect that maybe, just maybe, there's something more going on than everyone's sensitive and you and your little sidekick are geniuses.

| Walton not good enough on 10:08 - Oct 18 with 824 views | DJR | I am more than happy with Walton. Perhaps his main weakness over the years had been his playing out from the back, especially in comparison to Hladky, but given he has improved this aspect of his game and we don't do it as much anymore, this is no longer really a factor. And let's not forget that he was the Players' Player of the Year last season, which suggests he has the confidence of the players, something essential in the case of a goalkeeper. Tbh most of those who love walton are the same who loved hirst and wouldnt have a bad word said about him up until he left. The same pretty much on all town players who have been part of the past few seasons. There wasnt many moaning about us signing two keepers in the summer however and the vast majorty of the forum had walton down as back up or even leaving. Yet suddenly hes seen as our buffon and no goal conceded by him is by poor keeping but a string of unlucky moments. If only scherpen was given the same level of acceptance. | |

It is true. You were one of them. And waltons had about 4 or 5 goals conceded that was poor keeping. But this point the clamour was for scherpen to be replaced. Yet walton has near zero similar reaction. You cant say thats no true. It makes sense. Hes part of the hero squad. Its natural. But belittling me because i share a view on here is poor showing. There is world outside the forum and out there the walton feelings align with mine. Its ok thoughts differ in different places.

I'm not against differing thoughts. I'm against made up nonsense. Like for example, where have said I love Hirst and Walton? What evidence do you have that all the people downarrowing and disagreeing with the OP were also Hirst lovers? This "clamour was for scherpen to be replaced"?!? Where was that? I thought it came as a shock to most of us, certainly did to me. No problem with opinions. It's just this stream of evidence-free nonsense you use to back them up that gets people's goats. Do you have any evidence for any of the above? Or will you admit it's all just in your head?

You do spirt some nonsense at times,.Particularly your willingness to call O'Neill a liar. Unnecessary insult. Most on here enough are mature enough to measure players judicially on their merits not on some sort of loyal man-love as you suggest. One thing in Walton's favour is how relaxed the back 4/5 are with him behind them. They were clearly not convinced by Scherpens ball control and kicking and I think that vital part of our structual play has been important in O'Neil's decision-making. Neither keeper looks top-notch to me. Muric now with confidence and maturity is probably a better bet than either if these. Particularly your willingness to call O'Neill a liar

I've always preferred provable facts to made up stuff. And it's very convenient that you can't be bothered to show any evidence. Interesting that you've shifted from "a clamour calling for Scherpen to be axed" to now saying that I'm saying there were "no posts from people asking for walton to play instead of scherpen" ...which is demonstrably a straw man argument, because at no point in this thread have I said there were NO posts calling for Walton. And even if I did, there's a huge difference from 'more than zero' to 'a clamour'. Have your opinions, but stop making stuff up.

Ok then ill stick to clamour if youre looking to be pedantic about it. And no its not about convenience its simply not bothering to gather evidence when the you know full well its true and just playing games. Youve just accepted youre aware of people asking for walton over scherpen. Earlier you werent aware of such a thing. And btw. Your love of hirst you say you didnt have. You asked the forum if wed have been better off without his £7 mill Transfer. Regardless of your premature thoughts of emmersonn surelt you dont suggest missing out on 7 mill if you dont feel said player is good enough to stay. [Post edited 18 Oct 12:34]

the interesting thing imo is if thats Muric or Scherpen doing that, I dont think people would be holding back on their GK critiques, but its Walton, so they dont. doesnt mean those critiques would be any the fairer, Ive always said GK is the last line of defence theres a whole bunch of players in front of them whose job is also to make sure the ball doesnt get there, Man City cant score from their own half can they, and your game plan really shouldnt be relying on just super goalkeeping to save you. and in the highlights they showed Walton making some excellent saves too, so that 2nd goal looks annoying because it feels like its one they shouldnt have scored, but to my mind thats not all on Walton anyway. though I did note on Googles player markings, dont know if is just something they pull from Sky, but they gave Walton 4.9 out of 10. Lief got an 8, and 4.9 was the lowest mark, most of the rest of the team were 5s/6s. so were those markings fair as well I dont know, didnt see the whole game, they seem quite harsh considering we could have drawn with them, but just sharing the information

Not quite sure how its ruining your experience on the forum requiring a div list tbh You replied to my op made at 4.31 yesturday. That was finished. Ive kept my thoughts today in this thread discussing things with flash after he named dropped me. Ive not gone into endless threads like the past and posted these thoughts in them.
