However, very glad we outbid Hull. Really like him. Great strength, brings it down on his chest and springs an opening or wins a free kick. The class of CBs he’s doing it against as well! Encouraging.

| Emersonn’s hold up play on 10:00 - Oct 19 by rickw | I like him and he's already got ability but also a really high ceiling, but against Fulham a couple of things he didn't do annoyed me. Firstly his pressing is often pretty half-hearted - we'll often see Enciso and Maeda sprint past him to press. Secondly twice Maeda had the ball out wide looking to cross it and Emersonn wasn't in the box nor making much of an effort to get there, the 2nd time Maeda ended up crossing to nobody - these are just simple things which I'm sure our coaches are working on with him as when he gets them he'll be a top player |
I'm not sure our press is as consistently 'full-on' as it has been previously. So many times this season I've seen Enciso wave players back to stand off the opposition back line, deny their midfield space and make them commit to one side or the other and then we squeeze that side. With McKenna it was pretty much full press all the time but as soon as they broke our press in the Prem our midfield were immediately outnumbered.
