They looked a lot like a team who are struggling to score goals. Super organised and hard working, but at the expense of any real creativity. Will be a tough game on friday though, as they will be desperate to get back on track after 3 straight losses.

| I hope Delap and Forest don't play this well on Friday on 18:39 - Oct 18 by jas0999 | Yet we have spent close to £200M. Won three games. Pushed Manchester City very hard indeed and even scored two at Manchester United. Only big disappointment was Everton for me, where I thought amd hoped we would get something. We shouldn’t be looking for excuses or thinking it’s bad for us. If they had beaten Arsenal, surely they would have been on a high … that would have been worse as full of confidence. They didn’t. No points. Confidence sapper. We are at home. Under the lights. We shouldn’t be worried. Nor think it’s a bigger game for them than us. A game we ought to take at least a point. Just my view though. |
That’s fair and it’s certainly micro analysis to be looking so closely at it, which I was only doing because the game was just going on. I just think decent team that aren’t playing badly pick up better results in a law of averages kind of way, soon rather than later. We absolutely should go into the game confident.

| A cynic could say that.... on 18:46 - Oct 18 by Bloots | .....only one team in the league has lost more games than us so far. We've won 3 games, but all against teams in the bottom half, and all through last minute winners. We haven't really looked like winning any of the other games. Obviously I wouldn't say that, it's what we need to do and we are doing it. I think we'll stay up, but I don't think it will be "comfortably" and I'm not going to get too carried away just yet. |
Everyone else has a positive goal different in the top half, we have -4! Far too early to be carried away.

What so impressed people that makes them think we won’t be in it on Friday. Sure we’ve got a lot to improve, but we’re far from the team we were 2 years ago, and IMO are well enough equipped to match most teams at PM. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying we shouldn’t respect Forest on Friday, but reading some of the comments on here, you’d think PSG were visiting …

Most of that after the collapse against Man Utd when Emersonn was forced off and we didn't yet have Flemming. We were unlucky not to nick a (probably undeserved) draw against Everton near the end of that game as well, so there's a lot to negate the lack of clean sheets and goals we've conceded. Only 4 teams in the league have scored more goals than us so far, so scoring goals is already not a problem for us. Goals win you more points than draws, although it is obviously nice to pick up as many points as you can. I don't think I'm getting carried away in my thinking, I simply just think we aren't a bottom 3, even bottom 4 team. [Post edited 18 Oct 19:07]

I think they’re in a bit of a false position, a lot of good players and a good manager. It’s not unthinkable though, and this afternoon will have taken a bit out of them. Got a feeling Fatawu will have a big say on Friday. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

That only has so much to do with what they do with the ball in possession. Check out the underlaying stats for other games, like Spurs, and it’s a similar story. We played ManC yesterday, and our numbers look far better. The relative comparison between our numbers vs Forest doesn’t align particularly well with the despondency by some on how Friday will play out. [Post edited 18 Oct 19:36]

Our record against Forest! Games won: 22 Games drawn: 19 Games lost: 42 We've only beaten them 6 times this century and the last time was 2017! Any points from this game (home or not) is a bonus for us!

Bookmark this, Delap will get the winner, it's written in the stars isn't it. Once he scores against us he'll likely get a second or third quickly after. If we can beat Bournemouth and Hull though I'd be happy with that three game block and anything at Spurs a bonus. [Post edited 19 Oct 6:26]

Yep, I'm bound to have jinxed it. Just think its funny how Delap doing Delap things, ie powering through from deep, only to not get a shot away or hit one into the car park, suddenly makes him a good player again! He is miles off where he was with us and hopefully that will continue.

I’m not surprised bearing in mind where we’ve been all that time. So not really worried but Forest will expect to win as they regard themselves as a big team so time to show we’re no pushover. Hoping for at least a point and get to 10 points sooner than expected.

| I hope Delap and Forest don't play this well on Friday on 18:38 - Oct 18 by Esseeja | Am I the only one on this board who thinks we are a mid-table, potentially top 10 premier league team? I'm not remotely worried about the bottom 3. We have more energy than most teams towards the end of games now, and almost half of the league have to contend with europe, so it's an even better advantage for us with the team that we have assembled. I'm more worried about whether or not we are potentially finishing top half, or happily mid-table, than involved in the relegation battle. We scored yet another late goal against Man City. We are first for goals scored with 6, and have not yet conceded past the 75th minute. Even when we conceded an equaliser IN the 75th minute against Palace, we still went on to win the game with a goal in the 90th. Our energy is completely different now. We have enough cover with our energy to supplement poor first-halves, of which we haven't had many poor first-halves in the first place. I cannot be the only one who thinks the same? No you're not the only one. I'll cautiously give you an uppie and if it all goes wrong hope that nobody checks who's given you an uppie. I'm not quite brave enough yet to actually write words which show openly that I believe we are a mid-table team though... ...d'oh! | |

But their inability to convert their chances explains their current league position. They look like a mid table team rather than a relegation candidate. We did well to come away with a point.

Considering I actually thought Forest would win 2-1 yesterday as I thought they would finally convert more than just the one chance, I'm currently satisfied with my confidence now! A point gained, after what I think was a poor performance today, and I'm not even upset by the performance, we fought defensively for that point. It shows with those two clearences from Davis, one after Walton managed to get a touch to it. We almost robbed Forest of all 3 points with that late Clarke effort, too. [Post edited 24 Oct 3:57]

They are very well organised, and our wide players really struggled to create anything. Emersonn hardly touched the ball. The positive is that, despite not playing well, we battled and came away with a draw, and we are definitely improving when without the ball.

They somehow seemed to be able to swarm us all over the pitch defensively, and Leif didn't seem to get forward much. Not sure if their defensive setup is just excellent, if the conditions stopped us spreading the ball quickly, or if we were just generally a bit off. Happy with the point in the end.
