The downvote was because it was simply the ball hitting a toe of a keeper diving the opposite direction, theres no save made, It was still going in regardless of the touch. Its all about davis excellent danger awareness imo. As i said no matter what keeper did that id say the same. So no not frimley back to usual. Just a poster not seeing the same as you just like some said diop red. Some said not. Even seen some say not a foul.

If Walton doesn't get a toe on that ball, with the way it's spinning, it's going in, Leif won't get there in time, Walton deliberately flicks his foot out at the ball to deflect it, giving Leif time to knock the ball out.

What you're saying is if a keeper deflects a shot but the ball gets past him and is still heading into the net, but that deflection gives a defender time to clear the ball, the keeper should get no credit at all?

You are the obsolete SRN4 to my Fairey Rotodyne....

No as i dont agree that Davis doesnt get there without the ball hitting waltons toe.

I think when he's had pelters from some quarters, like suggesting he's the worst keeper in the league and/or not a Prem keeper, then it's nice to give some credit where credit's due.

Do find it strange that you think the 'worst starting keeper in the league' suggestion is akin to getting pelters. Obvs the vast majority of professional keepers aren't nearly good enough to be a regular choice up here (Opta ranks us 36th in the world currently, one place behind Juve, the PL is that strong - see Bournemouth v Milan earlier). Time will tell how many PL seasons Walton completes as first choice over his career!

I'm not convinced yet that he's superior to others who have started worse (the mostly well-understood form vs underlying ability conundrum) but I'm very happy with his performances so far. He let in more than he should have against City imo but that's the only game I've really thought it, and even the very best let in soft goals from time to time. Distribution didn't help us Friday but conditions almost guaranteed that.

If he continues like this then I wouldn't be pulling the panic lever in Jan, albeit you've got to be open to improvement when opportunities arrive.

Just seen it on MOTD. It slows the ball down significantly allowing Davis to block it. In real time behind the goal last night it didn’t look like he got hardly anything on the ball. You can argue the toss all day long but in my view, it’s excellent goalkeeping akin to a save.
Walton has been decent so far, bearing in mind that most of the supporters including me thought he would be the understudy this season.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

If it was worth a mention it would have been said by someone else Considering theres so many fans out there.

Re watch the toe tap. It didnt help the situation as even without it davis was stopping it. It happened not denying it hit his toe but it didnt change the situation for me to view it as a save.

You seem determined that everyone has to rate him. Hes got pelters before because he let some goals in he should have saved. No more no less.
He got no mentions last night as he did the standard job of a keeper. It was soild.

Take the solid and move on.

So a comment is only valid if lots of people make it?! That makes a lot of your posts redundant LOL.

I'm not determind that eveyone has to rate him, it just would be nice to give him some unqualified praise after, as you say, a solid performance. The context behind my post was the fact that some have called him the worst keeper in the league and not a Prem keeper.

The toe-save was praised by the commentators, and yet isn't even a save according to an Ipswich supporter. You're so determined to be right about him that your confirmation bias is clouding what's actually happening.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Well for starters, I was using the word "pelters" against various comments, not just the 'worst in the league' one.

I think if people describe you as the worst at something and shouldn't be there, then yeah, that's pelters. Strange that you think that strange. I wasn't comparing the comments with other leagues and keepers.

Jesus man, talk about being determined not to give credit. That was a really important touch from Walton.

I said he had a solid game. Why do i HAVE to share the same view about the toe?
You mention commentators etc. Some said the foul was a red some some said no its ok to have your own view.

And no a comment isnt only valid if lots of people make it. I was saying if a player had a wordlie or if he performs badly you tend to see posts about it. The fact there wasnt any mentions as per the OP is because he went about his business thats ok no?

He made three saves in total. No issue with that of course thats wjat hes there for and the toe you speak of was going in if it werent for leif so cant really class that as a save however.

A solid evenings work however and thats all we need

So you only want a keeper that will save shots that no keeper in the world makes.

Look at the performances of the Premier League keepers this weekend. I don't think any of the ones I have seen so far outperforms what Walton did on Friday night. If he is doing as well as the best keepers in the Premier League then that's more than good enough for me.

OK, perhaps one of the keepers still to play will keep a clean sheet, saving a penalty and making 2 or 3 other breath-taking saves to deflected shots when they have already started to go the other way.

No-one says you HAVE to have the same view as anyone else. You're free to have whatever view you want, and you do on a regular basis.

If you just said Walton had a solid game this thread would've gone no further.

You didn't just say that though.

As much as you're entitled to have your views, people are allowed to challenge them if they think you're being unfair, batsh!t mental or showing confirmation bias.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.
