I would have Eddie from the Gentleman over all those mentioned here tbh.

Skyfall is almost certainly the best standalone film but I don't know many other Bond fans who would say it's their favourite film if that makes sense.

Thunderball or The Spy Who Loved Me would get my vote - closely followed by OHMSS - with Lazenby. Massively underatted that one.

Agree on OHMSS a brilliant film with a great storyline. Had Connery stayed the plaudits would have it right up there. Live and Let Die or You Only Live Twice get my other votes.

Casino Royale is the high point of recent Bondage. Skyfall also good though, the other Craig's are a bit 'meh' for me.

I think we should only tolerate so much 'reinventing' for modern sensibilities sake when it comes to Bond. He's *supposed* to be womaniser and a sadist. CR did a good job of explaining how he got there.

Going non-white would be ok in my book, but I don't think they'd dare. Remember the initial fuss when Daniel Craig was announced just because he's blond.

Bearing in mind there's now about 1 Bond movie every 5 years, I don't get the fuss.

They'll pick a new Bond actor.
Then there will be drawn out hype to revealing the title of the next film.
Then there will be drawn out hype to revealing the villain.
Then there will be drawn out hype to revealing the artist doing the title song.
Then there will be drawn out hype to revealing several of the Bond Girls.
Then they'll actually start filming the bloody thing.
Should be ready in 2031.
It's all a bit tedious. Just go away & make it.
Everybody else seems to make films quicker than this.
Even Star Wars could probably make a trilogy in the time it takes to make a Bond film.

Quality over quantity. Rather they focus on keeping the IP strong rather than rush out a release schedule a la Marvel in recent times.

This was part of the strains between Amazon and the Broccoli family.

The Yanks just wanted them to pump out more "content" including things like a Moneypenny spin off...

Totally agree that it's better like this and one every 5 years is fine.

Broccolis now gone of course so god knows what direction it'll go in now.

I’m hoping if Lowden gets selected there’s a subtle reference to Slough House.

Yes, up there with the ending of LOST as in what a way to ruin a great run of films/shows.

They released a game earlier on this year that was pretty decent.

Just thought it was a big anti climax, was expecting something different than what happened. Maybe I need to watch it again? From memory they weren't supposed to be dead the whole time?

If you can tell me why you thought was good I'd love to hear it (genuinely) as maybe I missed something?

SPOILERS......SPOILERS......SPOILERS.....

They weren't dead all the time. Christian Shepard clearly says to Jack "Everything that's happened to you is real" and that "the time spent on the island was the most meaningful part of all their lives", which is why they created this purgatory/afterlife space together to find each other again.

What happened after the crash on the Island happened. Some died earlier than others. Jack died fighting the monster/ Locke in the very last episode. Some lived long lives after leaving the Island on the plane (Kate, Sawyer, Claire etc). Hurley lived for maybe hundreds of years (or thousands like Jacob) as the new protector of the Island. But when they did die they lived another life in the alt reality from the final season until they were ready to "let go"

By the end of the series all the questions had been answered. We knew why they were brought to the Island, just like Richard Alpert and thousands of others had been over the centuries. We knew who the smoke monster was and why he had to be contained on the island.

The "sideways" alt reality timeline was really interesting right up to the reveal and ran well alongside the current timeline on the island. I thought the moments when Sawyer and Juliet/ Sun & Jin/ Charlie & Claire/ Sayid & Shannon/ Hurley & Libby were incredibly moving. A great end to the show.

I appreciate that not everyone got that. My Mrs said "so they died in the crash all along" and I had to explain it to her. Which took nearly as long as explaining the offside rule to her.

Many thanks, it was a long time ago so I can't really remember it that well, seems perhaps I didn't get it as a lot of what you say I can't recall. Maybe I need to go back and watch it again?

I recall it seemed a lot like purgatory and that the writers had denied this which was another thing I recall at the time annoyed me.

Would be interested to see what other people's takes are, I just did a quick google and it sure divides opinion and disagreements galore lol

Spoilers buh! Some of us still haven’t got around to it.

The way you describe it makes me want to watch it now, whereas at the time I wasn’t interested in a bunch of randoms stuck on an island.

Has anyone here played James Bond - First Light? It's very good and I'm not a Bond fan- only thing since Goldeneye 64 that has got me interested in anything James Bond tbh.

Played it originally for research for work, but ended up playing the whole thing.
