| 10 quick unstable thoughts - Hull 2-2 Town 22:12 - Oct 31 with 2110 views | unstableblue | Here we go: 1) the radio 5 summariser said it was an entertaining and exciting game - and it was. 2) I’d have taken a point at kick-off (I’m turning into Mick), I would have been disappointed with a point at half time, then during the Hull onslaught where we lost our heads I would have bitten your hand off for an equaliser (which we got through Enciso’s absolutely superb individual strike), then come the end I agree with our manager that we deserved all three 3) We won’t have a more dominant half this season - that first 45mins Hull decided to sit deep as though we were Man City, and it became the Palacios show. Just wow! I know we’ve waxed lyrical already this season about our Argentinian maestro, but that was another level. Jakirovic’s decision to bring Crooks on at half time to nullify him, was crucial to the game’s pendulum swinging in the Hull direction. Palacios started to falter a little but then regained control later in the game with our subs bringing more energy. But I have to say he was so f@cked come the end - shattered coming over the clap to the away end - I do think we need to protect him a little. 4) The away end was bloody good today, solid singing throughout and great scenes for the two goals. The home ends - either side of the away end, which is always good - only fired up after their equaliser. They went into overdrive after their second. But my word that ‘mauled by the tigers’ schtick with the hand gestures. Embarrassing. Our ‘ploughed by the tractors’ (sic) was total class. 5) I was disappointed that Lukic didn’t make it, really hope this isn’t a niggle that’s going to linger. But Florentino showed further improvement. And let’s face it, it’s a superb goal. But Matusiwa again looked excellent on his introduction. If Lukic remains out, last seasons player of the season is going to play himself into the team. But again praise for Florentino - despite again a few questionable moments. 6) Due to the low block and deep set/up from Hull, it was key Jaden and Fatawu were on it. They weren’t as bad as the Town fans bemoaning them on the way out. And indeed Jaden had moments. But we need more. They had tired the defence, and the excellent Clarke and Maeda exploited on their introduction. Was convinced those two were going to craft a winner. Clarke so looks Premier League level. 7) OShea has been brilliant for a long time, he’s a superb captain, is playing well and ensures the team have the right culture. But he’s had an absolute mare on Hull’s first. Did he lose his bearings? He basically left a motorway open to our goal. But we move on. He’s our captain and is excellent. 8) Also in the queue out was a massive pile on to Walton - yes he had to do better on the fee kick and in other moments. But he saved the point with a brilliant second half save. 9) Ouatarra is the signing of the summer, alongside Palacios. How high is this lads ceiling? 10) 9 games in, 11 points. W3D2L4. 13th place. 4 clear of relegation. I’ll take it. But I would really like a next level performance on Sunday and 3 points against what will be a very tough Bournemouth side - let’s hope they knackered themselves out on Thursday in Prague!! Let’s hope the Lower North wakes up and mirrors the away end at the MKM. COYFB - let’s stick together and keep going | |

| 10 quick unstable thoughts - Hull 2-2 Town on 22:38 - Oct 31 with 1814 views | surreyblue | The only thing I can think was going through Dara's mind was that he thought Leif was going to be able to bust a gut to put pressure on the Hull player. A point is fine, but I doubt we will face a worse half of football than Hull played in the first half, and I'm still convinced they will fall off at some point soon. We are clearly bridging the absolute cavern between where we were two years ago and what we need to survive but it doesn't feel like we are yet playing well enough to pull away from the relegation race and go into May with our slippers on and pipes lit. 5 our of our 9 games so far are against teams that look like they could be in a relegation battle (6 if you included Man United). Apart from one (away) game against Coventry, all other games this side of the new year are against teams that should be comfortably mid-table if not looking towards the European places. We need to pick up points home and away, including at least one win, from those teams. The question as to whether we will survive? I've seen enough to be convinced we can. But not enough to be convinced we will. | | | |

Agree we’re about to go into an interesting run. And I hope we don’t regret leaving two points up on Humberside. I noted their manager saying how lifeless they were in the first half, but I repeat my point they seemed to treat us like a top 6 side, and we pushed right up on them. But yes we won’t face as little threat as we did in that first half. But not many teams will score two first half goals at the MKM this season. They haven’t lost at home. I’d really like us to pull out our best performance (ahead of the international) of the season Sunday and secure 3 points. But Bournemouth will be tough, European exertions aside.

| 10 quick unstable thoughts - Hull 2-2 Town on 22:47 - Oct 31 with 1746 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | They’ve had good results I know but it’s interesting to see how many people would have taken a point before the game, I saw it as a massive opportunity and a game in which we were joint favorites (for a change). We have a side coming to Town next week that are absolutely flying. If we lose that then two points from this mini block of winnable games won’t be a great return. Still think Hull are in an extremely false position and we let them get away with one. Walton was poor, as every statistic indicates. [Post edited 31 Oct 22:49]

Yep, we go into a run of 8 games where you could look at it and think that a point in any of those games is a good point. And that is a run where we need 9 points from those 10 games to keep up with 40 points, assuming we don't get anything out of Chelsea and Arsenal. 13th place doesn't feel as comfortable as I thought it would.

Today was the chance for some separation because we are about to go into a lot of games as relatively sizable underdogs.

Forest were so fired up for the Portman Road game, it was a bit do or die for them, they craved the win and played very well. A point is commendable (perhaps with some luck and poor finishing on our side). Forest are now unraveling. Today we were 100% worthy winners. And we’ve let 2 points slip. Sort of agree Hull may falter, BUT in that 15mins spell second half they were a nightmare - but no excuse on two goals which were errors from Town. Walton’s close control is actually improved but still doesn’t look natural. Yes he had not the best day at the office. But his save at the end was absolutely crucial. Lose Sunday and I agree it’s a poor return from three better fixtures ahead of a tougher run. But maybe the home fans need to take some responsibility and fire up the ground and team. As did the away end today.

Or just actually win the games against direct competition at the bottom which we were good at doing until today. We haven’t had a win against non bottom 6 type side yet. Huge chance at HT blown unfortunately. We still found a way not to lose it though thanks to Enciso, would have been a huge inquest if we’d truly blown it.

13th ain’t bad But 9th with a 6 point gap to the bottom three would have been much sweeter. But we’re playing some good stuff with some players really emerging.

Had we picked up all 3 points yesterday, we’d have been 7th, above Bournemouth… so it is still fine margins between finding ourselves 13th or 7th yesterday alone.

| 10 quick unstable thoughts - Hull 2-2 Town on 07:26 - Nov 1 with 983 views | cressi | I mentioned 3 names before the game referencing giving the ball away or making poor decisions. 1, O'Shea last week v Fulham could have got Diop sent off This week Horrendous decision in not going towards ball and man god knows what his head was thinking.. Florentino last week loose with the ball gave away numerous times. This week great goal then 2nd goal lost it on the half way line got back and gave silly free kick away. Emersonn last week silly flicks gave ball away so we got caught high up the pitch this week he never did but was largely ineffective during the game. | | | |

Your last sentence is where I am at. Some of the teams below will come good and some will sack their managers. As good as it's looking for the 3 promoted sides other than Sunderland I'd say they are still very likely to be in the mix at the end of the season. That said, if we can sort our defence and keep taking points from those around us we can do it.

| 10 quick unstable thoughts - Hull 2-2 Town on 09:09 - Nov 1 with 713 views | patrickswell | The division is very tight at the moment. Nobody has yet been cut adrift, but to those feeling uneasy all that can be said is that there is still a lot of football to be played and we do have a cushion, which will keep us out of the bottom 3, even if we lose next Sunday and everyone below us wins. I thought Hull was a winnable game and if the Enciso goal just before half time wasn’t ruled out, then we may well have gone on to win, but in the meantime consider it another point gained on the bottom four.
