Sadly, this has been a failure of recruitment as much as anything. We knew in August that we would regret not getting a decent striker. Very poor from the club despite the availability of funds.

Not sure Id call the 9 being an issue tonight. Although yes we had chances.

For me the gaps between the front 4, holding 2 is a bigger problem.

Along with the lack of genuine pace.

To the OPs point, Oxfords ability to one touch and free up a player showed us up.

Time for some deep introspection I feel.

Maybe so Wicklow, but it's certainly an issue over the season, if not tonight. I think this many games in, we can't be any more encouraged by that area than we were in August.

Every successful team needs a striker with a decent return. It's also about even having a first touch.. I'd say the same if we were Bray Wanderers or Rathnew ;-)

But they had two clear chances

We create chances but how many of them a clear cut?

Hehe you hit close to the mark there...I recently moved house from Rathnew.

Agreed the finishing is a problem, but how many clear chances did we have? Did we get in behind Oxford and force a save? We had zero shots on target in the first half, and then 3 within 10mins of the first half.

Our transition speed is too slow, which meant Oxford had men behind the ball and marked our 9.

Respectfully our issue lies behind the striker, 9. Maybe a game at the Carlisle Ground against the Rathnew gaa team would toughen them up.

Three. And we took zero.

Haha exactly. The Rathnew locals wouldn't let a lad back in the village if he strolled around the pitch like some of our lads. I just find it hard to understand the lack of drive in Town this year (whatever about tactics, strikers etc.). I was hoping we'd tire teams out with better players / higher level of intensity from Prem, and then finish them off later in games but for some reason it's very slow and laboured.

Needless to say I love the lads and hope they can turn it around but it just feels like something isn't right. A lot riding on the next month now and the fixtures don't fall nicely but hey ho.

Most of our chances are created down the left slowly. A ball crossed into a packed box because we are too damn slow to get it up there. Same patterns every time.

Getting really fed up with the incessant stream of comments (not just from you) describing our inability to get a prolific 9 in through the PR doors as "very poor from the Club"; or incompetency from MA/management.

It's the hardest position to fill, such players are like gold dust, hugely expensive, fought over by all clubs, spoilt for choice in their potential moves so can cherry-pick their options etc.

There've been numerous mentions of MA & KM working their backsides off over the years, including during the summer & Jan transfer windows.

If it were as easy as you seem to think it is, it would have been done.
