| What a squad we have. 20:59 - Jan 28 with 1932 views | Linners | Wherever we end up come May, the difference in our first team squad between now and 5 years ago is incredible. And whilst not all of our transfer dealings have worked out, the following are all 27 or under and presumably therefore could still get better: Walle Egeli Philogene McAteer Greaves Nunez Mehmeti Clarke Johnson O'Shea Davis Hirst Taylor Matusiwa | | | | |

There's a player in there. Aye, he's had some duff performances but he's young and adapting. More recently he's looked better and but for the poor form/bad luck/whatever of our strikers may have had a couple of assists.

That group had a high level of will, maybe a bit of point to prove in some instances, and huge balls that we probably can't replicate to that extent now, but I definitely think we've got a stronger squad on paper.

I am sure our current owners are not worried too much about that. We need to look at the here and now and it's pretty imperative we get promoted. With the money spent there is more than one 8 figures misses in there as well. It's a massive 4-5 months for the club and, there are many clubs that had good squads after relegation that are now floundering, ask WBA etc. So the time is to deliver now! If we fail, then next year we would still have a good side at this level of course but the focus must be on this May anything else in this seasons championship would be a failure, 90 points should be enough and that is unusual. I agree, seen glimpses of quality, and the best man to draw that out of him is McKenna.

It’s not uncommon for a player to take a year to settle into a new club

Thats not a bad team - one that on its day would give the current one a decent run for thier money I think.

| What a squad we have. on 17:44 - Jan 29 with 873 views | boysof1981 | How many though would we still have come August if we fail to go up? Davis, O’Shea, Clarke, Philogene and Matusiwa would have bids from teams, plus Hirst, Taylor, McAteer and Johnson would probably be offloaded. Anything other than promotion would be a failure | | | |

It certainly wasn't bad, it came 2nd with 96 points which is more than this current team is going to do. I wouldn't swap any of that back 4 (or 3, given Davis is still here) for our options now though, nor would I swap most of the rest. Morsy and Luongo was probably a better partnership than we've got currently, although not necessarily 'on paper'. Otherwise I think we're stronger now. Would be a very interesting game though, I think that team was a more cohesive unit and more dialled in to each other, IMO the whole was greater than its parts. Perhaps a consequence of coming up together and all having that bit between their teeth to taste premier league football. If you could bottle that and inject it in today's squad it would be quite a team to watch at this level.

I want to see what you are, so please inform me what these glimpses of quality have been please. As need something to cling on to/some hope for him
| What a squad we have. on 08:49 - Jan 30 with 275 views | Rimsy | I agree on paper, squad looks ridiculous for the Championship. Thing is this league is as poor as it's been for years and we're hardly tearing it up. We should be romping away but it's a slog. | |
