I’m actually looking forward to seeing who the club appoints 20:19 - Jun 10 with 1002 viewsVic

Will it be someone who is a real statement of intent - and established and succcesful Prem manager (Frank, OGS, etc) or another of Ashtons unknowns?

I really hope it’s the former as this is a pivotal time for the club; it’s not do or die, but I feel we’d be very wise to appoint someone with the greatest chance of continuing the upwards trajectory. Which surely has to be a more experienced manager.

Could poach someone from another prem club. I doubt it tbh. So it will be someone with a proven record abroad, or a currently out of work manager, which limits the field somewhat, and I don’t think is Gamechangers way of thinking.

I was literally having the same conversation 45 mins ago.

Is this an opportunity for the Club to make a statement or will they continue the approach they did with KM. Very interesting.

I do hope Ashton is leaning on someone with this. It's one thing taking a punt when you in league 1 with a budget but another being in the prem without one.

I’d hope the owners decide to aim big to keep us in the PL. That seems to be their ambition and everything they’ve done and supported indicates they’re not going to give up on that.

Likely an unpopular opinion but I really don't want an English coach.maybe there's another McKenna hidden away somewhere, but I think that's a very risky approach and I am gobsmacked that the merry-go-round managers like Potter, Rosenior, Rogers and O'Neil are being banded around.
Some up-and-coming Spanish gem would do nicely. We need someone versatile and pragmatic. The one thing we can't afford to be this season is predictable. If this is to be a pong-term appointment, they need to be pragmatic enough to know that season one is backs-against-the-wall smash-and-grab, but idealistic enough to provide entertaining football in season two and three.
