Would've?... | | | |
| Anthony Barry HT Interview ... on 22:40 - Jun 17 with 2419 views | Hermann_eats_puffin | He certainly would of been an interesting / intriguing appointment as our next manager and it's just a shame that due to timing and him being very much involved in the World Cup that this is seemingly an impossibility to happen in a timescale that we'd want it to so seemingly ruling him out. Given Ashton's history of giving young coaches their first jobs in management it's the type of appointment that you could of seen Ashton making. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I'm not convinced that it rules him out. If you are appointing for a long term project then waiting a few weeks isn't a big issue. Ashton can also communicate with him over transfers etc. whilst he is still away and it will be a slow market before then anyway.

Agree and thought the same. Many deals with players happening who are currently out there so would more for a potential manager. If he is the guy I’d sooner us wait 4 weeks and deal players in the background where possible. I suspect he won’t though and we will push on this week with an announcement.

Could be the reason why there has not been an announcment Wait until WC has been won then announce,.... glorious Waiting a few weeks for the right man makes perfect sense Guaranteed Ole announcment today now!

If that was the main criteria, we'd be after SGS instead of OGS (would complete our hat-trick of having the 3 most successful England managers at the club too)

Over time this picture of the gentleman-like Town boss doesn't altogether hold up. Alf, SBR, Burley, Lyall, McKenna, of course, and even some lesser lights such as Duncan, Milburn were generally good eggs. But there are quite a few, some recent, who don't exactly fit as gents. Phil could shed more light, but sensibly, almost certainly won't, except on the credit side, perhaps.

It's also not a reality of the modern manager ... you have to have both sides of you. I didn't think he over stepped the mark, really just emphasised that they were playing with fear and picking poor options that led to them losing momentum. Very succinct analysis IMO and look at how much they improved in the second half.
