That's annoying, really wanted him.

No disrespect to Hull, but that assumes we didn't want him.

Or wouldn't pay what they are willing to.

Appreciate they are a Premier League side but beaten to a signing by Hull? Perhaps their historic interest bore fruit.

Still, we move on. Hopefully we'll be a able to bring in, I think we need three, of our central midfield targets.

That was my first thought too. Wonder if this means that Musah might be our preferred option?

Yes, most likely it means we have gone elsewhere.

Fair to assume they offered him better terms than we were willing, potentially because we have other options available. I can't see any player picking Hull over us if the contract terms are exactly the same (location, squad, manager, facilities, the list goes on).

Had heard he failed a medical here but the club still wanted to do something with him … presume we wasn’t prepared to take the risk.

I think with some players the owner will be an attraction…. And many the opposite.. so could’ve been a reason ?

Last time we signed two midfielders, both with recent injury history, neither was available and fully fit most of the time.

Probably a bit harsh on Jakirovic to be fair. Taking off the blue tinted specs I'm not sure Gary O'Neil is a greater pull than him, especially off the back of last seasons achievements.

Their training ground is dire though.

Would have been a good signing.

Can only assume more money and a guaranteed starting spot convinced him to go to Hull.

Onto the next.

It's the area of recruitment we really need to get bang on this summer. Need x 2 of sufficient PL quality/physicality you can hang your hat on.

To somebody who doesn't live in the UK I'm sure there isn't any difference between Hull and Ipswich from a location perspective.
To somebody who does live in the UK, I'm sure even tjey would struggle to see any difference between the two, other than one is a City and the other a Town.

Do Bom Futebol on X (over 4k followers) suggests he failed the medical tests. The club can't take risks with this kind of thing. Been burnt before.

Bit annoying, as would have saved us a wedge on fees. But clearly we weren't prepared to take a risk on his fitness for the wages/contract he wanted and Hull were.

At least it'll give something for the twitter lads to bantz over I guess.

Hope this has no knock on effect for Maeda completing his transfer.

I stand by it, whilst Jakirovic was obviously impressive last season and a large factor in their promotion, O'Neil was at just over a point per game in the prem at two clubs and then had a 48% winrate at Strasbourg in Ligue 1.

I didn't really mean in the context of the town, I meant the distance to London.

Alex Jones from the EADT did say on one video he had a history of muscle injuries so I suspect maybe that with the cost of his salary may be something we've decided against moving ahead with.

I read it as he was recovering from injury hence he did not go with the Japan squad to the world cup.

Could be a good swerve.

Does traffic in the middle of Hull grind to a halt if the local bridge over a nearby river closes due to high winds?

That could have been on his mind. Another reason to build the northern bypass.

I think Celtic looking to replace Maeda with Hasseim Hassan; looked perfect for a counter-attacking team, which is likely to be us for much of next season.
