I think this is the third season (in its current guise). Seems like it was some kind of "sweetener" for NL clubs when they agreed to scrap FA Cup replays from R1 onwards. All a bit of a joke.
Leeds' U21s won the first season of the revived competition, beating Sutton United in the final. I think Sutton had beaten Braintree on penalties in the semis. Thankfully, an U21 team didn't win last season as West Ham's kids were beaten by Boreham Wood in the final, watched by 2,803. |  |
