I’m now in total head shaking mode with this news this morning about Abrahams and the unveiling of Palacios later, not to mention the other new additions previously.
Back in the day, getting one Paul Mariner type signing only came along every now and again.

To think that in the summer of 2000 our only significant signings were Hreidarsson (£4m) and securing Reuser (£1m) who had been on loan anyway. It was pretty much the same side that got promoted that finished fifth in the Premier League. How the game has changed! |  | | |

Hmmm..... look how those signings turned out.... I think Palacios is a level above, the rest all felt / feel as though they're ok signings for the level. I look at Abraham the same way I viewed Phillips, a calculated punt for a player who's been decent at a high level in the past but never anything beyond that and currently looking to resurrect a career which is drifting. Palacios feels a bit like Esteban Cambiasso when Leicester signed him when first promoted, but obviously Palacios is a lot younger. | | | |

Indeed.
I think the difference is that now we CAN sign these players. We have shown we have a nucleus to build around instead of being a League 1 club that has just risen straight through 2 divisions. |  |
