I love the idea that they'll be deducted 100 points but finish only one point off Spurs.

Fortunately for them their owner probably has a better ear to the Prime Minister than the British public. Don't see a royal of a key middle east ally in the midst of another oil price crisis being charged for fraud. I think if the FA want to play it smart they should use the lawyers and wealth of other clubs to eat City alive rather than just the regulatory body. Feed them to the Wolves! (not the wolves that would owe £40m the other ones)

| Someone has done an incredibly thorough thing on the impact of Man City cheating on 15:34 - Sep 29 with 1539 views | ITFC_Essex | The reality is, it's not just the top-flight they have hurt with their cheating, any "bobber" EFL club ahs been affected. What do I mean? Manchester City, while having periods in the top flight, was a club historically that would have been relegated back to the Championship, or even as low as League One during that same period and thus made it harder for clubs they historically competed with, to find a space in the top flight. Any club, which would periodically have a run of seasons in the top flight such as a West Brom, Watford, Birmingham, Sheffield Wednesday and more (including ourselves) have been affected by the natural order of things in English football being gamed by financial cheating by City's owners. They have also hoarded, and ruined, top English players who would have otherwise played for those clubs. We had Phillips here, who was class for Leeds and England, and was just left to rot at City. We saw a shell of a player here as a result. The punishment needs to maximum, League Two and stripping of titles/cups. Portsmouth were sent back to the stoneage for less than this. | |

I disagree re Phillips. He was initially injury prone at City and there were better alternative ahead of him. They gave him a year and a half to prove himself before loans to West Ham, us and Sheff Utd. Don't forget he joined City in 2022 on a mega bucks 6 year deal. He was never likely to agree to mutually terminated contract and move on for regular football reasons. City would have moved him on if they could. One charge of hoarding. Not Guilty !! Also don't believe that Man City's cheating really affected lesser teams in the division. If they had stayed legal, they would still have had the financial strength to compete top 6 and beat all the lesser teams anyway, 8 times out of 10.
| Someone has done an incredibly thorough thing on the impact of Man City cheating on 17:42 - Sep 29 with 1364 views | vapour_trail | Good fun that. What it does do successfully is highlight the Pandora’s box that has been opened. I read somewhere that players typically receive a 25% uplift in wages for qualifying for the ECL. Add in 25% of the wage bill of each club who finished fifth for a decade and I think even the emirates will be wincing. The damage done to English football and the premier league brand will be incalculable for quite some time. | |

The grammar police would be a different department. I think this is being filed with the malapropistic police. The punctuation police will be along later to discuss your comma. [Post edited 29 Sep 23:42]

"They have also hoarded, and ruined, top English players who would have otherwise played for those clubs. We had Phillips here, who was class for Leeds and England, and was just left to rot at City. We saw a shell of a player here as a result." That's really over-thinking things. Phillips!!! Are we supposed to be sympathetic to him. He's a very rich young man of his own choice. Benefitted of the cheating. And we didn't need to sign him on such high wages. His stint at West Ham was such a red flag. That's on us. To be fair... the whole game is a sham. Man U are a billion in debt, but can still afford massive fees and wages because they can generate the business capital from their reputation and brand going back to the 50's and 60's.

Somehow Oldham athletic fans chanting at them "One of us, one of us" from the Wonderwall stand in League 2 doesn't quite have the attraction I’m sure the Gallaghers would like to bring Also, the stadium is owned by Manchester Council are Manure about to luck in with a super convenient cheap stadium upgrade? Nothing like taking a rivals territory to really rub it in

Manchester City would have had a spell in the Championship, without their cheating, thus one of the other clubs who phases in and out of the top flight missed out on income that could have pushed them forward, saved them from the mire and so on, some will have even had European football money, that didn't, due to City. Manchester City's natural position in English football isn't a top 5 club, let alone back to back Champions and regular cup winners/finalists. They are a club that has the the odd decent spell.
