40 page report.

I only got as far as page 20 so far (report embedded in article as a link) but in essence

- didn’t report on time or correctly to Pl
- didn’t assist or comply
- set up sponsorship deals of which a ‘base sum’ of 10-20% was actual sum with AD lying about the rest and when caught out stayed that sponsors requested assistance with the diff of which AD ‘loaned’. Edit ~ over £800m diff between base and stated/covered up
- witnesses deemed to have blatantly lie.

Almost as if the owners are used to just acting how they want and didn’t think they’d get caught. Surprised they didn’t just try and by the PL and hide it all away.

I'd be interested to know what ManC think might 'vindicate' them. The PL deciding they'd added up the numbers wrong?? Given they have all the accounts and the contracts, there can't be much wriggle-room.

As I said - City will definitely get EXPELLED from the Premier League on 20:52 - Sep 29 with 1938 viewsunstableblue

So many reasons now why this will happen.

£800m+ in fraudulent over spend is essentially doping of a squad.

If Town could have spent £400m in this summer window rather than £190m then we survive.

Man City built a Premier League winning side illegally.

But now as stated - it’s their continued denial, it’s the huge uproar from fans/media/clubs, it’s the need to dampen separate actions with a strong punishment.

The question for Town is whether the expulsion is this season - I actually think it will be. Premier League will want them out and this closed off.

The detail feels even more damning than expected.

David Bernstein calls for Man City expulsion and goes further and suggests criminal investigation.

La Liga president Javier Tebas calls for the most severe punishment available to Man City.

And now Man City fans are even calling for expulsion to clear clubs name.

This is happening. And I think City may crumble and fall on their own sword.

BUT again the question is, whether the expulsion is this season?

Despite the case looking rock solid and damning - indeed with Kieran Maguire suggesting that a League 2 demotion is in play!!! - Man City have come out fighting, which feels like an expulsion could end up in litigation, the can kicked down the road again and expulsion not guaranteed this season.

But litigation by what route.

Anyway Man City are calling it a conspiracy theory and claiming irrefutable evidence that is being ignored.

But again I just can’t see that the premier league can spend 2.5years and £100-150m to form a case that isn’t irrefutable.

City could really be damaging their position with this siege mentality and denial.

Only time will tell.

I think the fairest sentence would be deducting them 450odd points (based on previous punishments for infringements) and that continues through the leagues. Say they get another 70 points this season, that means next season in the Championship the start on -380 and so on and so forth. It doesn’t put the club immediately into extinction.

Problem for them is admitting it would give them nothing to fight the very many civil cases likely to follow. Plus it's unlikely to significantly lessen the punishment.

City will pay expensive lawyers to strong this out for as long as possible. I wouldn't be surprised if we're sitting here in two to three seasons time and still awaiting the final outcome/punishment.

Yup it’s a positive stance and very good news for Town.

And there’s such a bow wave now from so many voices and bodies, real outrage and anger.

They will be expelled without doubt, but maybe they may go further and strip titles rather than an asterix - which I thought was unlikely.

City’s doubling down is really quite bold - and is obviously damaging them both from the premier leagues sanction but just reputationally.

I wouldn’t want to be a City fan at Anfield a week Saturday,

I would have thought that being invited to our Royal weddings would make them think they are automatically vindicated of any past or future wrongdoing. Our friends in the Middle East, innit.

Wasn't the loophole closed so that sporting sanctions had to be applied in the same season as being found guilty?

They have 2 weeks to appeal from yesterday, appeal will be done in 2-3 months, their only recourse then is CAS and that will be complete within 2 months. At worst, their sanction will be confirmed by March 2027.

They can't take it to CAS as the Premier League handbook (which all clubs agree to) states that the decisions made by the independent commission is final. They can appeal (which has to be done by Friday) and then there is a set timeline for the appeal to be heard by.

Very interesting! It's all in our benefit hopefully that it will happen this season.

To be honest, the real mess is going to come when the punishment is handed out (and after they then appeal that) I'd imagine they are going to get plastered by clubs/individuals that will sue them as well as potential criminal investigations.

Punishment has to start by stripping them of every trophy won over the relevant period, whether re-awarded or not. For me, that is the minimum.
Individual clubs may well, and rightly, litigate. Properly-run clubs have lost out hugely.

Problem is the EFL don't want them either, so they'd be best going into the Northern Counties Leagues.

I hope they strip them of the titles rather than re-award - I just think re-awarding gets too messy. Getting a title after the fact will mean very little to that clubs fans who didn't get the chance to celebrate and frankly it isn't as simple as who finished second anyway... what if City knocked a team out in the semis who would have won the final? What if City beat a team twice in a season and it meant that team finished third rather than second etc. etc.

Rangers were relegated to the Scottish lower divisions in similar circumstances, so the punishment for City should be the same. I look forward to seeing them playing Keith and Gala Fairydean next season.

Think Manchester United fans would be ‘Over the moon’ to gain another two titles.
