Still 5 days to go 08:27 - Oct 5 with 1016 viewsmuccletonjoe

If we think its been a long break, its going to seem even longer to the players who have been flying around the world with international squads. With a bit of luck we might get the full team back together for a couple of days this week in preparation for a massive game against Fulham. We have to hope that our opponents have a similar handicap to their preparations, but i cant help thinking it will be the one with lesser jet lag which comes out on top.

Sounds intense to us, but footballers at this level are used to it. Their whole life is travelling and playing football. I don't think it's too much of an issue, and Fulham are in a similar boat.

We'll have a good side ready to go on Saturday. Head says 1-1 draw, heart says we can do them. A Sunderland style last minute winner would be lovely.

Hopefully we can get to 30 minutes without conceding and feel our way in a bit. We can't afford to give away first 15 minute leads like we have in the last 4 games. We've got goals in us, but that doesn't half make life very difficult against wily premier league opposition.

At least this week we’re at home. That fell well for us.

Not really - international travel and management of fitness these days are significantly improved. Jet lag is easily managed with structured diet, supplements and sleep/meal schedule.

For any concern to be real you have to factor in both clubs. Of the 11 that started for us last game SIX have not had internationals. For Fulham only ONE has not and that is the GK. So if the break is a issue like many on here seem to say it is we are in a far better position than Fulham are. In fact to the point out of all 38 league games this is the game where we have a greater chance of winning vs what we would have without the internationals.

Probably mental fatigue is likely a factor. Been away for 2-3 weeks with all that entails, back to home and family and then have to immediately get up and going again for a league game.
