All not well for Wes and Family 11:47 - Nov 4 with 4486 viewsCheltenham_Blue

Seems as though the Leicester Fans might have been going after Wes on the socials and Aby is pushing back on it.

Poll: If we were to spend £200m would you rather

As soon as you start to lose your cool on social media like X it is all over, people will be at you from all angles.

Wes is far too good for league one, this is very much a Leicester problem and not him.

I’d have put Arsenal fans before those from Leicester but can only imagine how the overly entitled Foxes supporters are behaving.

It’s got nothing to do with serial failure Russell Martin has it?

Given it didn't take much criticism of Burns on here to get a family member involved, I'm not surprised to see this.

Yesterday I saw a Leicester related account on FB post a picture showing the back of Burns and Chaplin (looked AI generated) with the caption "not good enough". I did add a comment suggesting it might be a manager problem.

Horribly toxic environment. I'm surprised he and Conor went there to be honest. Even Maresca used to get dogs abuse when they were top of the Champ above us.

Martin's style of play does not suit Wes in the slightest either but I guess the fans don't see the nuances of things like that. Much easier to froth at the mouth.

Is Russell Martin still there??? Can't say I've been following League One but he seemed to be on the brink of losing his job about a month or two ago, I assumed he'd be gone by now

Yes, as toxic as some fans are it's best to just ignore it and try and leave the response to trying to prove otherwise on the pitch. It's a weird era, we saw Broadhead's family share how unhappy he was and that he wanted to leave, details of the McAteer and Szmodics incident shared by family members in angry social media posts arguing with supporters, which was gleefully shared by that Cruncher chap. There's been a few more in recent years, Norwood continually making a fool of himself, even Woolfie and Downes making light of them both wanting out of their clubs last summer. Even Bonne got fined by Charlton for "liking" a Town social post about us thumping them.

Burns should have stuck it out here, we're still weaker on the right than we are the left, and he could have been a useful squad player, rather than drop down to the third division with Leicester. The lighter amount of games may have suited him with his injury history. Seems a total waste of his ability to play under that egomaniac of a manager.

I strongly suspect that Leicester can't afford to sack him.

Funny you say that, bringing Burns on at 70 mins last weekend would have been a solid sub, that was his kind of game.

Can't blame them really. Burns probably didn't earn silly money until his 2nd deal with us when he was nearly 30. Has had some injury issues, Leicester probably dangled £1m a year under his nose and a 3 year contract, it's going to set him up nicely for retirement.

Burns was offered a three year contract compared to the one year here. Not sure on the money situation but at his age, with recent injury record, it was a very good deal

For some reason I always Wes to go to MLS. Would've been a great payday, fantastic to bring the family up. Although perhaps the state of the country was off-putting.

Don't think Wes would come close to commanding the sort of wages/length of deal in the MLS to what he is at Leicester. Believe his partner has also commented on social about how gutted they were not to make the move to the States.

Indeed, against a lower-Prem side in the last 10-20 he'd be okay, I get that he wanted a longer deal, but I suspect he will be gone at Leicester next season, even if they go up, and then he's looking at League One and lower for the remainder of his career, same with Chaplin.

I read he was on 16k a week basic at Town with add ons, of which he will have hit with the promotions, goals, apps etc

Doesn't excuse it obviously, but it was a strange move. Probably a good challenge, but always had potential to be a toxic environment.

As a friend of the Burns family, a bit of contexts below:-
Wes along with rest of the Leicester players has received unbelievable flack since arriving at Leicester and in limited game time he has had, has tried his best despite the stick at the games and the online abuse he’s been subject to. The screenshot of response from Aby was replying to yet more abuse. The continued atmosphere and barracking of players is unacceptable from so called fans, and, to an extent at times, all clubs fans are guilty of it, some more than others. At the end of the day players and their families whilst paid large sums of money compared to the rest of us, are still human beings and understandably can only take so much until they snap.

They don't deserve Wes or Conor. The abuse must be pretty vile if his Mrs felt the need to reply as she did.

I hope both players know that they will always be loved and welcome at Ipswich Town. Back to back promotion legends.

Antisemites, Jew haters and crashing bores will be put on ignore.
