Would it be fair to say that there are as many, if not more, Ipswich fans in Colchester as there are Col U supporters?

Possibly in years gone by. I suspect you'll find a lot more West Ham, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea types than Town these days.

Clacton and Harwich on the coast and places like Witham further inland had a few more. I can remember several coaches running from these places back in the day.

Don't know the answer to that but I do know that a lot of Colchester fans hate us, albeit that we have quite a few ties these days. Colchester have always been my second team and I know in the old days loads of Ipswich fans used to watch col utd when Ipswich played an away match. I was at the Grimsby game last night.

I think things really turned nasty when we stole George burley from them to become our manager.

I actually quite like Colchester as a town nowadays. Truthfully I see more Liverpool shirts than anyone else though.

Hard to know how to measure it. I’d guess more people from Colchester proper have season tickets at Colchester than at P Road, but it might be close. On the other hand, let’s say both clubs got to play offs at Wembley, there would be a LOT more excitement in Colchester about the L2 playoffs than Town’s .

I’m from Colchester and have lived here all 34 years of my life. Supported Ipswich my whole life because my Dads from Ipswich and brought me up right.

Colchester fans absolutely hate us, they actually see Ipswich as a derby match even though we don’t.

I know a lot of “Colchester fans”, but none of them go to the game and every single one I know supports 2 teams. Mainly Arsenal, some Chelsea, couple West Ham and Liverpool.

When they were in the Championship they all had season tickets at Layer Road, as soon as they went down they stuck with telling people they support them but haven’t been to many if any games since, and only talk about their second club.

I know more Colchester based Ipswich fans with season tickets than Colchester based Colchester fans with season tickets..

Down my little close as we have a CO postcode.

1 family of Spurs supporters.

2 families of Arsenal supporters.

2 families of West Ham supporters.

1 family of town supporters I.e me.

But we do have a fair few in Benters, and Colchester, the hard core Colchester fan proper hates town though.

Born and raised in Colchester, supported Town most of my nearly 57 years.

Can only repeat what has been said previously, Colchester fans dislike us intensely, I have always put it down to jealousy!!

Spent many a good Friday night at Layer Rd in my youth, to then travel to Portman Rd and sometimes away on the Saturday.

Still live in Colchester, in fact I can see the stadium from the end of my road, but perhaps more surprisingly, I can HEAR the fans when Colchester score!!

Lots of Town fans live here and some still visit both stadiums when fixtures allow.

This is pretty spot from an ex Colchester resident's POV.

The Burley saga seemed to fuel the hatred.

Why on earth would anyone choose Col Utd over a short car or train journey to Ipswich. Their move to that windy soulless stadium by the A12 made it even more obvious a choice for anyone with a desire to enjoy watching football
