Reality check on quality of Championship 20:35 - Mar 2 with 1611 viewsunstableblue

Boro's mini wobble was only going to be that in my view... this is a well coached team full of quality.. Targett is an excellent player at this level.

Not hard for a top team like Boro to find the weakness in this Brum side.

Coventry's wobble, which was significant does seem to be over. 4 wins on the bounce now.

In short it's going to take a serious run of form from Town to make the top two.. do think we've got the players and manager... who have stuttered to really get going, but seem to be clicking.. unlike Boro/Cov we haven't quite got the momentum in the fan base.. but maybe that kicks in truly tomorrow??

Will be interesting to see how Hull and Millwall stay the course.. and whether Wrexham keep up this remarkable momentum. And whether Southampton keep this drive, and are that team that enters the play-offs with form.

That fan momentum was a big part of 23/4, carrying over from second half of previous season. Last years reality check, combined with a rebuild, and some fans believing the hype of being favourites, lead to some muddled thinking on the terraces. As we were in 24', Cov and Boro are now, settled, clear plan, familiar. We're now there I think, but with games running out it's going to be tough to get top 2, BUT, I would back us in the play offs. Should it not happen this season, and IF we can hold on to players, then I'd put us right up there, regardless of who comes down. Training ground done, stadium done, it can be all about the team.

We will probably get Wrexham in the PO's ( not convinced we can make inrodes into top 2 as they just keep going and games are starting to run out)..... and i think Wrexham have got the measure of us....

Do we really think we'll get promoted this season or if we do, are we anywhere near ready for it?

We have to win tomorrow. Need to stop this ‘it isn’t a must win’. Other teams play to win and are doing so.

Could this end up being a similar season to what Leeds experienced and then we get it right next season?

I'd prefer we get up this season, you're likely to have a big club coming down, Burnley who are yoyo specialists and Wolves who have been preparing for the Championship since January

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Of course we’ll play to win. Why wouldn’t we? And hopefully we continue our home form, and win. If we don’t win though, that doesn’t mean the season is over (which is what a must-win would be).

Of course it's going to take a good run of form. We're playing catch up.

However isn't promotion still technically in our hands? This result doesn't mean they'll continue winning. 3 games without a win coming into today. Birmingham haven't quite gifted goals, but their defence has been shocking.

Plenty of twists and turns yet.

Bizarre comment.

We play to win. KM has always played front foot football.

The reality is the tally is going to be at least 10 points lower than the last two campagins.

We have been second in the league for a matter of days all season so we need to win a good amount of games to get to 86-89 and hope for the best. Both Boro and Town will drop further points. April looms large.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

Currently, if we win our two games in hand and draw with Boro, we only have to match Boro's record over the rest of the season.

There is a whisker between the two of us in both 6-match and 10-match form tables.

Whilst it is going to be tight to be unable to see us making inroads into the top two is assuming the worst. There is a long way to go.

I think our run in is slightly harder but it’s close. Everything points to the April game being the decisive one.

I’d standby 90 points guaranteeing second but I think both will fall short of that.

Oddly no twists from the weekends fixtures so expect something tonight/tomorrow and next weekend. All we can do is keep winning as a few slip ups and we're fighting for a play off place. Wouldn't surprise me to see a Southampton/Wrexham really storm this final quarter of the season. The top 2 and 6 is going be fascinating...for a neutral!
