Remember, legacy fans/ST holders are not really the cash cow 10:46 - Apr 16 with 1070 viewsMaySixth

it's the day trippers and tourists that the US owners want

drink in the fan zone, spend hundreds in the club shop/online on merch, not those that drink away from the ground arrive five minutes before kick off

Poll: What is your view of Nigel Farage’s visit and the role played by Mark Ashton?

Not sure we've grown enough yet to have an army of Ipswich day trippers. If we go up it's likely our stands will be full of day trippers supporting the away team.

I've been going for around 30 years and admit I've been to none of the Sky games apart from Norwich at home as I don't live in Ipswich and have a young family - I can't really justify the increased costs and travel time when the game is easily accessible on my TV.

Last year felt like the end of a wonderful 3 year cycle and although I still love the club I've struggled to enjoy this season as much as I've found myself constantly comparing with the 2023/24 season (bit like when you go on a great holiday and it's not quite as good when you go back!). I also think it's been a pretty dire season across the board - Prem included.

Yeah, travel time and travel cost are a real issue when you live away (even when you can get tickets). It doesn’t get any easier when the kids are older and have loads of activities on either. It only works if watching us is their main hobby/activity. As soon as they start being in teams and having events/matches/performance/training over the weekend, you’re stuffed!

Best time for me living away was when I was in the NW, newly in work and single. There’s so many grounds in the Midlands and NW/NE. I used to make most away games unless I was overseas with work. Not so much now unfortunately.

Maybe not a legion of them yet, but they certainly do exist in increasing numbers, theres alot of churn of ticket holders around where I sit, not my fault honest 😆 and weve regularly this season had them, with full bags of merch from the shop and they buy the kind of stuff you couldn't give away to regular fans for free. Its classic gift shop mentality of just buy something with the club logo on it

Another match we had someone who had brought a friend to his first ever football match, and his was his first time at Portman Road too and spent the whole game having to discuss between them how the game was played.and who the players were

I mean fair play to them bringing extra money into the club and so on. But dont kid yourself that there arent Ipswich daytrippers now even in the Championship.

The reality of being owned by private equity.

Its all about the numbers, and only about the numbers.

There will be no emotion, there will be no loyalty.

I've not been to many games this season as so many have been on SKy and the tickets I usually get are now £43 each, plus 2-2.5 hours travel each way.

Having a family means spending £100+ on 2 of us going to a game is unfortunately a luxury!

I went to lots of games the previous few season but last season in the PL I struggled to get 2 tickets next to each other and it's kind of stopped the flow of me getting tickets (if you see what I mean).

If they putt he matchday tickets up 12-14% as well, its going to be pretty much £50 a ticket.

Is washing your hands after using the bog part of the 'match day experience', because let me tell you, that's failed to catch on.
