Am sure Bournemouth have selected a strong replacement, but there’s manager flux on the south coast as well. Next season is all about strong signings, evolving the pragmatic FC approach in the system with better transition and clinical finishing, COMBINED with 3 or 4 teams struggling next season. Cov and Hull are there - we need other candidates.

Second season syndrome. Squad depth tested to the max with all those additional games. Stranger things have happened….

I'm thinking there are question marks over eight teams next season. That will also help us. Last time we were against fifteen nicely established sides. This season it will not be like that. Lovely. Some of the 'smaller' teams having European fixtures Hull winning the play-off Possible big points deduction for Man City (would have to be about 4p pts to see them in the bottom three though!) Managerial turmoil, pretty much half the league will have new or very recent managers (hopefully a few Igor Tudors in there!) We will hopefully have learned from our last PL experience. I hope this post doesn't come back to haunt me anytime soon.

I think the benefit isn't so much those teams will struggle throughout the season, more so that when we play them we have a chance of winning. Realistically were going to need 35+ points irrespective of other teams performances. [Post edited 25 May 11:30]

They got a few home wins on the board early on, no monkey on their back, no pundits (eg Scholes) predicting mid table.
