Would he want to uproot his young family from Suffolk? For a move to a club that are likely already at their ceiling? And move away from a club where he’s loved, where he’s the King on life-changing money? Where he can oversee projects such as a new training ground built to his specifications? Spurs or United I think is where he’ll end up

Yep, he's not going to go for a club that let's face it, if it was in League one in a few seasons nobody would blink an eye about it. He's only going to go for a big six club but only if he actually does the business this season for us. If he flops again and we go down then maybe he's just not cut out for it.

He'll go where he has the best chance of being a permanent PL manager. Take off the blue tinted specs, who do you think will have a better chance of staying in the PL next season, us or Fulham?

You have no idea whether he was on either or both.

Indeed, he'd be rather mad not to! It hasn't done Marco Silva any harm. Currently rumoured to be interesting Benfica. McKenna's stock took a hit last time we were PL, if he has a chance at a solid PL team, I can't really see much of a case for him staying here. I would be gutted with that, but I would be totally understanding if he did.

Except that the expectations are very different. Scraping into 17th place by GD alone will be considered a great success at Ipswich. He could be sacked for not looking like he's going to secure European football at Fulham.

But what if he goes there, transforms them (We all agree he's quality, so why wouldn't he) and gets them European football? He then builds his stock further. We seem to have this idea that if he stays here we have a better chance of staying up, but write him off for taking Fulham to the next level.

A lot of people are forgetting about the short life spans in football. It will come down to the squad that he feels he can get the most out of next season and the short answer to that is Fulham. Do I believe we have a bigger ceiling? Absolutely! But Mckenna will have learned from not taking the Palace and Brighton jobs and don't think it is a coincidence that we are hearing he is interested in the role. I'm with you.....One season at Fulham where he takes them into Europe will open up a huge window of big jobs for him, all across Europe.

There is a lot for him to weigh up. I find it odd how many of our own fans seem to think him going should be a slam dunk decision. There are reasons why he may decide he wants to go but there is a lot going for him here - including job stability, good/trusting owners, time and a chance to build. He might go into Fulham and really kick them on. He might go in and they are around the bottom 3 early in 2027 and Khan gets an itchy trigger finger. Ultimately we don't know how KM is thinking.

It's not just McKenna's ability, but the material he has to work with. Do Fulham have the resources to exceed their highest ever finishing position?

McKenna is probably interested in hearing what they have to say, and meeting with them. He has form in this regard and why not go and speak to them, he can build his network and get a feel for who they are. If he actually decides to go, well that could be for a couple of reasons, it could be Ashtongate, it could be squad, it could be location. But let's be honest, if he is not committed to our project, we don't really want him here do we? Also, we can see a new manager here has the potential to build with them their network of former players too. We struggled last time, I have not seen enough evidence to suggest we won't struggle this time too (tactically), so I don't think it would be the worst thing in the world anyway (and we get £8m) Having said all that, I would love nothing more than for him to stay and build a legacy, take us back to Europe, get his statue etc... He knows we will back him whatever happens this season, he won't get that elsewhere, so there are risks, sometimes it is better the devil you know. [Post edited 4 Jun 10:15]

They finished on 52 points which was only three points off sixth position - on paper, and with a decent coach, they should be able to exceed their best ever PL position which was ninth. But most other established PL clubs will probably feel that they can improve from last seasons positions. Unfortunately other clubs get in the way.

Yeah, possibly. It could also be agent talk to get him a nice extension on his deal. RE not being committed, when he turned down the jobs last time round it didn't stop him taking us back up and by all accounts, he is a workaholic. I'd be interested to know how much we will stand in his way in relation to the £8 million. If it is one of those where he has his heart set on it, I could see him negotiating that with Ashton. Ultimately, he has turned this club around and he doesn't owe us anything.

I think we have to stand firm on the £8m. We have paid him well and given him a good contract, so if he wanted out, we should get the £8m, else what is the point of having contracts. Personally, I would be surprised if he went. He knows he is well backed here, he knows he has the fans, although that support was a bit thinner at times last season, and he knows what this place would be like back in Europe. That vision must excite him. [Post edited 4 Jun 10:18]

Manager appts now seem to happen so quickly, as much better succession planning across board. Fulham vacancy will already be well advanced for a replacement so I doubt we’ll need to wait long to find out if it’s KM or not. Hoping he stays, for the record.
