| Where does this leave his backroom staff? 19:04 - Jun 10 with 1291 views | OhDavidMcgoldrick | I imagine any new manager brings in his own coaches so I do also feel sorry for Rene, Pert, Stanislas, Hudson etc who all worked very hard this season to get back to the premier league. Hope there is space for a few of them. | |

If you need to leave your job to spend time with your family; do you fk your family off and stay at the job because of your colleagues?

If we have any hope of emulating the Brentford style of things, we absolutely need to be building towards this sort of resilience.

Can't see him taking a backroom-staff role.

If for example we got Ole Solksjaer to replace McKenna, he would probably know the existing coaching team. Also someone like Frank, left his coaching team at Brentford, so doesn’t really have a team to come with him. Sean Dyche on the other hand has his back room team, that he takes everywhere. I personally would keep them on in some capacity for the continuity with the players. Also would mean another club would have to pay compensation if McKenna does take another role. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

No I know. But I’m not sure his first choice was to step away from football. Think it was probably a) a bigger club b) time out c) another season here Don’t mind that btw, can understand he might just be done

The thing that players always said about McKenna was his attention to detail and planning for every single match. Surely as this brought him, and by extension, ITFC, so much success, it would be crazy to throw all that away for another coach with a completely different system. The rest of the backroom staff must have been part of that week in, week out, so could just continue under someone else. Of course, McKennas eye for detail, the way he looked at things, analysed things will be missing, but if someone else could step into those shoes, who knows. If a new person comes in, they would have to agree to follow that system in the first place, otherwise it's promote from within.
