| What will fans need to accept GON? 19:05 - Jun 19 with 1154 views | Axeldalai_lama | Will he need to be above where McKenna might have been? Will we accept being in the mix but still in the relegation zone or will that become not good enough? Will it be about how he plays, who he plays? We're clearly not going to be obviously safe and happy at any early stage so I just wonder how toxic it could get and what people will be needing to calm those grievances that they already have. | | | | |

The reality is we can it seems pay big wages but as a newly promoted side that may not sway bigger names and add in the World Cup and I think our choice is quite small especially if we’re looking for someone with top flight experience.

Which will probably mean skirting 19th 18th 17th 16th etc throughout the season. I wonder if fans, myself maybe included, will accept 18th 19th but in touching distance of 17th for a chunk of the season with GON playing differently and scrapping and scraping.

3 defeats and things turn toxic, he doesn’t have the fairytale story McKenna has. People will not stick with him like they did McKenna last time around.

I agree that it will take much less time for fan patience to run out with Gary O'Neil. My biggest issue is if the quality of football goes down too, because those hard fought results will do little to GON's stock among fans.

How many prospective players will come because it is GON, how many think he will develop them? I don't know that and hope MA has some insight into how players feel about him. Don't want him to lose the dressing room like he seemingly did at Wolves.
| What will fans need to accept GON? on 20:08 - Jun 19 with 674 views | BloomBlue | It was starting to get a bit toxic last season with some fans and KM, even on this site some posters were basically calling for him to be sacked at different stages during the season Those same fans would have gone toxic even if KM had remained and we started the season badly. Most fans don't give a f*** about style if a team is winning. A winning team automatically equals perfect style. So, we need a good start but that would have been the same even if KM had stayed. | | | |

I believe we would have struggled to stay in the PL under McKenna, so I think we all need to thank McKenna but move on. Comparing managers and players isn't fair. Back whoever MA and the board bring in and carry on enjoying the ride. [Post edited 19 Jun 20:58]

> Most fans don't give a f*** about style if a team is winning. This is an odd one because Mick had a good season (up until Christmas when we got no investment to solidify 2nd spot). Even then we were not consistently getting bums on seats.
