| Penalty - couldn’t really see much contact from Greaves… on 19:24 - Aug 30 with 1235 views | catch74 | Want to see it again - or probably not, but felt he maybe started falling before contact. Commentary seemed to think it was stonewall and likely right. | |

| Penalty - couldn’t really see much contact from Greaves… on 19:28 - Aug 30 with 1174 views | Swansea_Blue | It would have been C***a’s back foot if there was any. Wasn’t clear for me and looked like he was hitting the deck. But if there was any contact on his back foot then that’s all that’s needed now. It was a horrible position to be in for any defender. Irrespective of this incident it’s weird how the game’s often reduced to a non-contact sport when it comes to fouls in open play, but they’re able to play rugby league at set pieces. I’m not sure if this one fell into the first category or not. | |

It beats the hell out of me why a fit, strong professional athlete, doesn't try to have a shot on goal when they have an opportunity like this, as opposed to waiting to feel the slightest breath of contact before throwing themselves to the floor to try to get a penalty & get their opponent sent off. The attacker in this, and many similar incidences has taken an embarrassingly, cowardly way out. I would rather my CF have a shot & miss (or 'keeper save) than have to witness a grown man mess his pants & chicken out like that | | | | Login to get fewer ads

It looked it all ends up, and I don't have any complaints with the decision really, but... If you watch it multiple times you note 3 things: 1. There's no contact between Greaves' left leg and Cunha's right leg until Cunha is almost down on the deck. 2. There might be a trapping contact with Cunha's trailing right foot, but again only after Cunha is almost on the deck. 3. What suddenly becomes obvious when you realise 1. and 2. is that Cunha changes his stride pattern massively and overstretches to reach the ball in that last stride before he goes down - not sure if he's trying to flick it around Scherpen with that stride, or whether it's a clever way to go down and draw contact in a very convincing way - possibly both. These fkers know what they're doing! (thought in a very Raoul Duke way, that last.)

It's not a red bc fouls in the box are only a pen + yellow now, as long as genuine attempt is made to play the ball. “double jeopardy” rule applies, ie pen is harsh enough punishment. Greaves was right to go for it IMO. None of those angles show whether there was contact, but Greaves challenge was genuine, so only a yellow. [Post edited 30 Aug 23:05]

Because trailing leg went right through the back of the cheating thug who ought to be in prison rather than on a football pitch.
