I wonder where we are with Abraham then? 18:25 - Aug 29 with 5015 viewsJoey_Joe_Joe_Junior

Can’t help but thinking, is he maybe waiting for a chip to fall somewhere else. So much business going on right now.

Like if Mateta goes the other way?

Guess we won’t have long to find out! Hope it gets done or that we have a quick fire plan B lined up.

Seems like a bit of a coin flip but I think we’ll get him!

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

I guess if one of us was a prophet they would know about Abraham.

Kind of need it confirmed tomorrow really or we should move on. We cannot afford to have it suddenly collapse.

I'm sure we have a deadline for him to decide, but will be looking elsewhere already just in case.

He won't be the only striker target we have and have been working in, we won't have put all the eggs in one basket.

Agree, just need it to be concluded sooner rather than later, he does strike me as type where a European competition would be appealing, let’s see!

Part of me thinks that if it was looking less likely we'd have had a few more links chirping up. I hope. The silence is concerning, but there seemed to be loads of links, dodgy or not, before Abraham, and now it's quiet.

That's my made up theory anyway!

Indeed

Im still hoping we gave him 24 hours and moved on if he didnt give an answer

We need that 2nd striker or even 1st striker otherwise this windows work imo is undone.

Come on recruitment team..one last push

Not sure what your point is to be honest. The window closes in three days.

We don't want to be rushing a player travelling, doing a medical, agreeing terms and all sorts on deadline day. We need at least one additional day so for me the deadline would be 20:00 tomorrow.

I'd imagine that this one is either done, or dead in the water. If its dead, then you'd think we're hard at work with other targets. So much goes on behind the scenes in transfers that we don't see and will likely never know about.

In terms of time frame (I'm obviously aware we're up against the clock because the window shuts soon), a new signing wouldn't be able to play tomorrow, so not huge rush, I'd rather we went right up until the end of the window and getting a better player than rush someone average/injury prone now.

Issue with signing a goalscoring striker, everyone wants one, so they're so hard to get.

Agreed to an extent, though I think we need another defender and right winger too. We're almost there but lack depth, particularly with Kipre being the next CB off the bench (though I guess O'Shea would move across first) and our reserve right wing option being McAteer.

I agree with you. My point was there were posts bemoaning those wanting it sorted asap and telling us to remember it takes time to make transfers

If we’d “moved on” from a player every time someone on here insisted we move on, we’d barely have signed anyone.

That was correct though. He's here, in plenty of time for the fee we wanted to pay.

I still think Solanke could end up here on loan. De Zerbi doesn't seem to be a massive fan. They are being linked with Mateta as well although hopefully he will go to Villa so Abraham comes here.

Seems like we're waiting for him to make a decision. So many things change and moves open up/fall apart in the final days of the window so he may be waiting as long as he can to see if any other options become available to him.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Villa have sanctioned the deal that’s got to be 100% for Watson to run it as an EXC.

Seems like the player is waiting on a few things. They’d clearly be a market for him. Maybe it’s already done though. Town seem to enjoy a it dropping on match days.

This is a different situation though.

I'm sure Ashton will handle it. I am not too worried.

It might be all agreed and waiting announcement or player OK and Villa just waiting on the final OK as they have so many moving parts. We just don't know. I am sure there is a deadline and the club in full control. Just maybe the club know it will go through hence no panic from them.

I get very impatient but this window seems different and I think something will get done. We haven't released the players we have without a player coming in.

So they say, yet every single team in world football has at least one if not more. Many of course would not be up the English PL, but that would leave a reasonable amount of meat on the bone. That saying has become a bit of a tired cliche, that many use as an excuse, or can't think of anything else to say.

From the TWTD article it reads like villas side is all done and just the player needs to confirm. It's a straight loan so doubt wages or anything financial changes for the player.
Just a question if whether he wants to be here.

Someone suggested we don't normally make announcements before games which has soothed me but also seems like an exceptional circumstance given how close the deadline is and you would think something would of been leaked?
Although given the silence on all our deals throughout the window nothing that strange.

Maybe Ueda comes in I would be happy 😁 or maybe Haaland has finally changed his mind

Might also be that we have a preferred option beyond Abraham (I know, right) and we're waiting to see if we can get that done first.

Once he's decided that there's no better option, he'll be signing that the moment he spoke to the manager and found out the plan for him and realised how ambitious the club is and heard about their great history and amazing fans, he couldn't wait to join.

That is how I had interpreted articles, but then I have seen snippets from reliable posters suggesting it is done. Given Fabrizio seemed to know it was down to Tammy to decide, and that seemed to be more that what Stuart Watson had posted, I assume he might leak something unless he got paid for the other messages and he would get nothing for this one and been told not to post anything.

A bit like Palacios, we must have been given some encouragement to make the loan bid as the player was interested. I can understand him waiting to see if the likes of Enciso and Palacios joined. Can only think he now knows of some new interest and is holding out for them making a bid.

Have to stay patient for longer.
