33 per the BBC but yeah, not ideal! A very strange game. We looked decent for 35. Mediocre and naive for the rest of the game.

My biggest concern was it was like a flashback to the City games, or Arsenal and Newcastle at home in the 2024 season. I get they’re top players you’re up against but you can’t lose your heads like that, heavy defeats really dent confidence. We have to be better there. Also still starting three of the same defenders from that year and I think we sometimes struggle backs to the wall. Wasn’t just Greaves, Davis poor second half. That’s the glass half empty version I guess. Other than that, 3 pretty good halves out of 4 (today’s first half arguably our best!) hopefully we learn from it quickly. Even if we lose Friday it’s still a PAR start to the season really.

Feels like it’s going to take a couple of months for it to really click. Just hope we can get enough points to keep our head above water. We were really sloppy second half today, so many giveaways and losing 50/50s. And brilliant tho he is, Enciso tends to hold the ball too long sometimes. If Davis had scored that second chance probably becomes a different game. The Emersonn situation is pivotal; bringing in Akpom was the ultimate “wait, we’ve spent how much and this is who we’re bringing in? Oh.” moment. Here we are YET AGAIN late in a summer window trying to buy a striker.

First time United have scored 5 in a league for over 5 years and it could have been worse.

We have some exciting players going forward no doubt. Just hate seeing us fall apart and conceding chance after chance like that. I know people will say United do that to a lot of promoted teams at home but they really don’t too often as that stat suggests. We will stay up on strong foundations at the back more than anything else. [Post edited 31 Aug 2:21]

We lost our way in a mad 15-20 minute spell, and for that O’Neil was spot on - our emotional discipline was all over the place - that being said, regardless of shots against us there was plenty of positives to take from it and with a bit of learning and experience we have shown we can more than match a top side.

Definitely expected us to be tighter than we were. Worth remembering we had our Nunez in there who is probably now our 5th or 6th choice centre midfielder, if you include Taylor

Enciso had a good game overall, his one negative for me is he has to score that chance he had in the first half. Ok he had 2 United players chasing him but just the GK to beat you have to take those half chances especially against teams like ManU.
