Flemming last season.... 17:54 - Aug 31 with 3045 viewsBloots

....scored the same amount of league goals as:

Mbuemo
Richarlison
Sesko
Ekitike

He scored more than:

Rogers
Cunha
Palmer
Bowen
Beto
Jiminez
Bruno
Barry
Woltemade
Gakpo
Wilson
Brobbey
Salah

etc, etc, etc.

Anyone saying he's overpriced isn't being realistic.

On the face of it, it's a decent signing (if it happens)

Keaton, Kint, McManus, Fenster and Hockney.

£17m is very reasonable. So reasonable in that I expect there to be add ons on top of that as well.

Burnley fans furious at the fee and you can see why. I personally am still annoyed we didn't go in for him 2 years ago at half the price.

Only just turned 28 though.

Definitely someone we are buying 'for now' rather than future sale.

....you're going on about to be honest.

You saying that if Flemming scores 14 goals in the Prem this season he'll only be worth £8.5m next season?

Odd take.

Keaton, Kint, McManus, Fenster and Hockney.

His value in 1 year is irrelevant, if his goals help keep us in the PL

He’s not an investment for future transfer sales, he’s being purchased to secure PL safety which is worth significantly more than the £17m.

I appreciate it probably wasn’t our dream striking line-up, but as things stand I’d be fairly happy with Emersonn, Flemming and Akpom - there are definitely goals there. Would like to this Emersonn really steps up to the responsibility now though.

This season is worth so much to us if we stay up, if he delivers only this year then it's definitely worth the price

So you have basically ignored what the OP has said and cut and pasted what you put on another thread on Flemming. He has 11 goals in the premier league to Szmodics’ four for comparison. And only six players scored 15 or more goals last season - so it’s quite exceptional is this day and age to do so.

We need him for one season and to score 10+ goals. If that keeps us up and the other players can score a few then that is all we are asking.

We only need to finish 17th, we don't need to make it any more complicated than that right now.

I think it’s a good signing on the whole, and gives us options at both number 9 and 10, but does feel a bit panic buy at £17m for me.

Even if they don't, we can't go into the season with two strikers, one of whom went off yesterday and the other about whom there are doubts ability-wise.

Yes, the fee is absolutely fine. Player in his prime who has performed well in the top flight and delivered everywhere else he's been. We'll see if he's really what we need but nobody can seriously say we've overspent here.

....I genuinely think it's a decent price, I'm surprised he wasn't in the £20m - £25m range.

I don't see where we could have got someone with his record and at his age for that price anywhere else.

He was 28 only last month, surely he in his absolute prime.

Keaton, Kint, McManus, Fenster and Hockney.

He had a good year last year, no doubt about it. But the majority of his goals have been in the Championship and Eredivisie before that.

Just feels - don't know how to describe it - but if he was someone we ‘really’ wanted and this was the price point, why didn’t we move for him sooner?

As I say, I don’t mind the signing and think he’s another one who gives us depth in more than 1 position, but price tag does seem a tad high for me.

It’s probably Flemming for £17m or ending up with Akpom starting up front. (Depending on Emerson’s fitness.)

A bargain

Since 2020 his average is 1 in 3 games and was Millwalls player of the year..... i think we got a good deal! Strikers are worth there weight in gold and he is ambitious unlike Abrahams who was shown the door but has opted to at best warm at bench for the next 12 months.....

Assuming he scores the goals £17m is a bargain, he should be in his prime and worse case scenario we go down you'd expect him to be top scorer in the championship. If we can get a couple of good years out of him and Emmerson continues his progression it's excellent business.

Flemming last season.... on 06:46 - Sep 1 with 1124 viewsLegendofthePhoenix

On the main article, his reel of 25/26 highlights is quite interesting. The things I liked are
1) He is 2-footed and scores with either foot
2) He hits the ball 1st time - no teeing it up to take the shot
3) He also has some really good headers
4) Not afraid to shoot from outside the box (and get it on target)
5) Works hard in the build-up including laying off to team mates, then points to where he wants it

Those qualities are not to be sniffed at - he looks like a decent PL striker to me, and this is more recent than anything Abraham has done. I will be happy to see us get this done.

If Enciso keeps putting assist on like the first two its not going to matter who is upfront!

Flemming is a really good bridge player between now and wherever we are next season. If we are staying up he probably becomes player 2/3 and we have someone ahead or Emersonn and him, or Emersonn pushes on and we still drop Akpom out. If it doesnt go as planned he will likely not get to stay in the PL and will be effective at Champ level.
