It's going to get tiresome if we have the keeper debate every single time we concede a goal.
Scherpen would've got that...no Walton would've done this...actually we shouldn't have loaned out Van Ooevelen...
How about pipe it and back whoever's in net. Furthermore, why have we gone into a group psychosis that Van Oevelen is the next Buffon?
He played about two games in pre-season and we never saw him tested properly. Not saying he wouldn't be good/better than our other keepers, but for some reason everyone seems to think he is the Messiah of goalkeeping.
We played well today, Walton wasn't great but we can't keep calling for goalkeeper rotation every time a goal goes in. I think some of our fanbase still has a Muric hangover. |  |

Wasn’t that in the championship like 10 years ago? He’s a solid keeper, I think we’ve gone so big on the data it’s ignoring a potential flaw, mobility.

Why is everyone pissing their smalls about this? Yeah it's a bit unusual to switch out a keeper for no particular reason, but it's not like it backfired, we lost to one deflected fluke so it's hardly as if it disrupted anything. And who's to say it will disrupt anything as and when he decides to switch Scherpen back in? | | | |

Dropping does not mean writing off.
As for Sels, yes was in 2018 but he was Goalkeeper of the year in Belgium in 2016 pre Newcastle and then French League 1 GK of the year in 21-22 after Newcastle. Suggests that he was always a good goalkeeper . . . yet ask a Newcastle fan and they will tell you a different story based on a few errors. | | | |

He's not really a League 1 quality keeper though is he. And if my memory serves me right he's not actually let us down when he's played in the prem.
Im really surprised GON dropped Sherpen, as he's not really cost us so far. I hope there's a logigical reason that comes out of this soon. |  |

I really don’t get why Van Oevelen didn’t get a chance.
He had very similar stats to Roefs in the eredisivie. VO is good with his feet aswell, could have suited the prem….
But we have two keepers we’re going to back. They’re both decent keepers but understanfly some like to slag them off quickly. If we’re regularly playing in Europe in 5 years and we still have Walton between the sticks, then we can ask questions. |  | | |

Because there is far more scrutiny and debate about the position than outfield where, even if dropped, players are more likely to come off the bench and have the chance to play themselves back into form. | |
