Palacios 97% pass success rate yesterday 10:36 - Oct 11 with 1750 viewsstickymockwell

I looked at his Argentina stats over the last couple of weeks and they're very similar. The guy is a machine. Incredible.

Give him a ball and a yard of grass

He changed the game in the sense of controlling possession yesterday for us.

Not so much controlling possession but what he did with it. He was constantly driving the team forward when on the ball and encouraging players to make runs to create space and opportunities.

His ability to first make space and time for himself and then use that to see and play the right pass is frankly ridiculous.

I hear you but I'd disagree that it's ridiculous. The guy is a fully fledge World Cup winner - you don't be that unless you are real quality. I'm not surprised one bit in how he plays or his ability.

What I am surprised at is that he's here...with us.

That's the delight of our summer business. Along with every other player in the First Team squad.

I still can't belive it. I keep waiting to wake up from a dream and see proper bloke Dougie walking out to watch the ball sail over his head for 90 mins and Mick tell us what great job he's doing for the team

Ha. Yes, I should have qualified that when I meant ridiculous is that he is doing it in a Town shirt.

He changed the game, and brings the best out of other players. 97% success rate is astonishing, given many of his passes were forwards into crowded areas.

He was literally pointing to where he wanted players, completely took over the team

I honestly don’t know how we managed to sign someone that good

It’s nuts really.

That said, other than the financial boost we will get from him, he may as well be a loan. As there’s little chance he plays for us next season in my view. Hes just way too good. A Chelsea or a Liverpool or a Man U will have him.

Agreed. Need someone in midfield who controls the game. Doesn’t give the ball away.

As others have said though its much more than not giving the ball away. Its also what he does with it, looking to punch the ball into and between the lines.

That pass completion would be impressive coming on 2-0 up with the remit to keep the ball and strangle the game would be a job extrmeley well done.

But posting that when brought on to chase nd change the game and make things happen is frankly outrageous. What a player.

Same goes to Lukic, an absolute monster in CM.

Was the weakest part of the team 2 years ago, now its easily mid table quality and possibly top half.

I sit, kind of in line with the 18 yard line on our left, when we are attacking the North Stand and I was watching him continually instructing other players, especially Leif and Jack Clarke to make runs in behind for him to thread passes through to.

Just thought, this guy will wear the armband at some point if we can keep him here. Given his start, along with Ouattara, we might be fending off other clubs for them in the summer.

When we were linked, well on the brink of signing him really, I mentioned it to a City supporting lad at work, looked at me with total disbelief, "what, Ipswich are"...."that woukd be some signing"...

I knew we'd arrived..
