Anyone with any idea of what is actually driving this tone change won’t be telling you on a football message board.

Edit: hope that clears things up.

I’m a cynic, government keeping people in fear is good for them. Maybe another effort to push digital ID, stop protests, or other authoritarian ideas. Maybe they are scared from the riots in Europe - I’ve not seen such hysteria from other governments.

Certainly not going to lose any sleep, or stock up on baked beans and bog roll.

I keep reading how AI agents are on the verge of bringing down banks and other traditional financial structures. Probably nothing to worry about. 😮

no lost sleep here, but I am intrigued. Tbh, we have stocked up, as of a month or so ago when the warnings first started. (Water's the bitch - i never knew how much a person needed each day)

Remember to engage a FIFO system on your emergency stash.
When the SHTF you don't want it to be past it's use-by date.
A cyber attack on our banking system that results in a 5 day period of can't pay by card only cash and can't withdraw cash from ATMs might cause a fair bit of disruption.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

Yeah, this seems to be the main threat. Storms come and go - that's just bollox.

That’s absolutely not it i’m afraid. If anything the government wants people to remain calm.

If you want an out there (literally) idea...there has been a lot of noise in the UFO/alien interest community about 2027. It has persisted for years and years.

I don't believe it, just throwing it out there.

On a side note...anyone who has been interested in this stuff, isn't it fascinating how the language has changed over the last five years or so*. Like they are narrowing down some of the things we don't understand...

If you're wondering how something so unlikely could manifest in the real world, the vice president of the most powerful country on Earth believes they are demons rather than aliens. Countless whistle-blowers (just a term, don't get excited. They are probably mainly loons looking to cash in) have said the truth is not something humanity can handle.

*UFOs have become Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon. Aliens/ETs have become Non Human Intelligence. It's fascinating even if it is one massive work of fiction.

All ours was bought just a little while back together, so should be good for 18-24 months, but good advice all the same. Worth getting cash though or... ahem, other tradables.

If they wanted people to stay calm, why encourage panic buying. Say nothing at all rather than tell the populace to stock up.

That makes no sense at all.

I watched this the other week, which explains it quite well:

Global events - climate or otherwise - are going to cause supply chain shocks, and warehousing capacity is abysmal.

The easiest, and most prevalent, storage available is the spare space in people's cupboards.

The perils of our modern 'just in time' supply chain.

Not a prophet, or a stone-age man; just a mortal with potential of a superman.

The warning started a while back and have been building gently since - I think that's what I would do if I were in power and wanted to get a disturbing idea out there.

I guess the fear is that there won;t be much help available if cards don;t work and shops are are empty or shut. That could result in serious discord - are they not just trying to take the edge off that?

The funny thing about AI is that people simultaneously laugh at the badly-produced slop infesting the internet and are terrified at its supposed all-conquering genius.

They're hardly encouraging panic buying.

They're just asking people to stock up on essential supplies on the off chance that something happens.

Could be fish people as well as aliens.

It's also not "Unidentified Aerial Phenomena" anymore, it's "Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena" as most seem to be in the oceans now.

This hits 4 birds with one stone(r)

1. Ready cash
2. Get high on own supply and miss the whole event
3. Depending on what you are stocking - appetite suppressant
4. Less storage space needed than for cans of baked beans, so suitable for any type of homeowner
