Agreed. He certainly wasn't a shoo-in - a good argument for e.g. Lamal/Mbappé, and Kane didn't quite do it on the biggest stage - but by any standards he's had an absolutely extraordinary year. He seems pretty down to earth and looked genuinely delighted to have won it. |  | | |

Nah, if this was Beddlington terriers FC or some tier 8 club where the owner works the bar and occasionally joins in as a lino for the under 12s then maybe it's a witty bit of bants. But it underlines what they think of themselves. Small time. They're literally judging themselves as a quaint joke of an afterthought, haha, imagine if little old Norwich crossed his mind, that would be hilarious. Much more professional to say nothing or just keep it to a simple 'well done to and ex loanee type thing.
