Went to the gym, looked after himself, did all the right things. I was chatting to him at training before the Half Term break about teeing up a Christmas curry night for the parents and coaches. I've read the message telling me he's gone a thousand times and I keep waiting to read it properly, because the message can't possibly mean what I've read it to mean. Just feel like I needed to share this with some folks and I hope that you all don't mind. Just want to say it, really. It's absolutely terrifying to me that a good man can be there one day and just gone the next.

It also seems hugely unfair if the person hasn't lived a full. It's difficult to accept especially when you chatting recently. The sharing can help you to rationalise it. Condolences to you and especially to his family.

Agree. Denied the chance to properly say farewell.

I still haven't fully come to terms with it and I'm not sure i ever will. My advice is to be thankful for the life he was able to live. He'll appear in your thoughts out of nowhere in the years to come, embrace it when he does. Try not get too down, I know its hard and as said above, always welcome to post on here. The support from fellow blues never ceases to amaze me. If you need to chat to someone 121 shoot me a messge any time

Yeah, lots of weird emotions, lots of anger, as someone said, at the sheer injustice of it all. Guilt, because you know that his family will be feeling so much worse than you about it. Strong feeling that a bottle of wine might get hit again tonight.

| Lost a friend on Tuesday night on 11:39 - Oct 29 with 944 views | LevelTheLand | I'm sorry to hear of your loss. To lose someone in that way, especially at a young age is dreadful. Unfortunately, before the age of 30, I had carried two of my closest friends to their final resting places, both of whom died suddenly and unexpectedly. This was followed by two other friends passing before 35. It's incredibly cruel, and you can't help but feel that it's incredibly unfair, particularly so when there are young children involved who will grow up without a parent. However, I will say this. You've chosen to reach out, and to talk about your loss openly. That's one of the best things you can do. Don't bottle things up. And remember, even though it may seem difficult, try and remember good times. It's okay to laugh and reminisce. Spend time with friends and loved ones, and reach out to those offering support. My condolences to you and yours, as well as to his family. And go for that curry! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| Lost a friend on Tuesday night on 11:53 - Oct 29 with 875 views | ITFC_Essex | I recently lost a friend from childhood who, while he moved to the midlands, I still kept up with now and again on socials, he gave no indication to me he was even unwell, none and then I just saw loads of posts popping up on his Facebook from family saying how much he will be missed. I just couldn't believe it, I looked back at the last messages, all upbeat and piss takey but he'd been sick for a while. Showed me the measure of the man that he didn't want to project his suffering in the brief chats we had and just wanted it to be, as it was. A bit of a "man" thing to do that might be criticised these days, but thats how he clearly wanted to handle it. A laugh as a lad, he infamously flinged a dead hedgehog into a family's living room while they were sat having their dinner, landed it on the table through a window, causing immediate horror. The 90s' were different times, but he was known for that moment with our group for the rest of his life! We had agreed to meet up for a gig in Brum, and never got around to it. The lesson there is, make it happen while it still can. | |

Well, that's rather family philosophy now, and the reason we damn near bankrupted ourselves to buy a beautiful VW Campervan. Another good friend of ours, with 3 kids, two of which are basically the same age, within a matter of days, as ours, got diagnosed last year with stage 4 breast cancer, having had basically no symptoms until it was too late. This is the absolute best advice anyone will ever give me, I'm sure - live for today because tomorrow is not guaranteed. So, yeah, I suppose if any of you have plans with friends and family, get on and get them done, I guess.
