Town Issue Statement On Farage Visit
Tuesday, 24th Mar 2026 17:12

Town have issued a statement regarding last night’s visit to Portman Road by Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.

As reported earlier, a private tour of the stadium was booked with the club understood not to have initially been aware who was taking part.

They opted to still allow it to go ahead and to admit social media staff, who shot videos and photographs inside the stadium, which were released by the political party this morning via their channels.

Fans reacted angrily to their club apparently associating with and endorsing Reform with the story subsequently picked up by the national media.

The statement reads: “Ipswich Town Football Club has, over several years, hosted representatives from a range of political parties.

“The club remains apolitical and does not support or endorse any individual or party. The club will continue to engage with representatives from across the political spectrum as part of its role within the community.

“Ipswich Town is proud to be an inclusive, diverse and welcoming organisation that supports all members of the local and wider community. This commitment remains unchanged.”

@bobble and all the same repetetive hate commentators on here regarding your diverse inclusion comment you do realise that reforms right hand man zia yusef is a muslim right!
You do realise that there party chairman is a gay doctor!
You do realise former club captain sam morsy refuses to wear the rainbow armband
And you do realise this guy farage is most likely going to be the next prime minister of this country lol!
For those of you who feel 'ashamed' and 'disgusted' over this great club feel free to morraly do the right thing and give up your season tickets to the thousands on the waiting list for one!
And also know this, for every hater on here there is probably double the amount of people who are secretly liking this!
But because there afraid to say anything are fueling this guys rise in popuarity
I see the hate and unsubstantiated claims on here and realise why these people and farage are getting more and more popular

Saying all of that sport should keep a wide birth if everything pollitical and stay well clear of any social issue! Supporters should have a chance to escape all this pollocks for a matchday

Churchmans. That point is the overriding one for me. Football is supposed to be where you go to forget everything else for a while. The club have brought that crashing down.

A report in The Athletic stating he was invited. Apparently.

It's going to need a further statement at the very least. If somehow they snuck in under the radar and exploited the club, it's exactly what they do. They look for cheap chances. If however, there was any official contact, officials then welcoming them knowing who they were, allowing them to take social media footage, then it's hard to see nobody at the club escaping the consequences,, I'm afraid.

Abuja Blue: I only wish I could mark you up many times more. Unfortunately, I only get one vote.

The Comments on this are absolutely pathetic . People saying they are going to cancel TownTV and give up a season ticket over this? Then you are not a true fan, if you are seriously getting that upset by this, then please hand in your ticket and don't come back. Plenty of people who will support the club beyond one bad PR move

Town have made a big mistake here. We all know that politicians will have football teams that they support, and will visit their local team, wear the shirt etc. That is not what this was and the management know that. Farage has used our great football team as a political stunt. Evans should apologise to the fans for hosting such a divisive individual. Who in my opinion is also a racist. Farage has no interest in our great football team.

The hate comments here are so beneath the supporters of one of the most friendly football clubs in the UK.

I am no Reform fan but if this is the biggest thing that you have to worry about then you are very fortunate.

Having been an avid reader of TWTD for many years, what has struck me whilst reading both articles on this subject, is that I have seen many, many names of commenters that I never seen before. So who are you? Actual genuine supporters or just some of the usual rabble of those who feel insulted by any event which does not concur with their woke ways.
Once a Blue, always a Blue

Absolutely gutted to see Kier Starmer going nuts in the directors box at Arsenal the other week. I must write a letter and complain. Move on, there’s far more important things to worry about.

Another thought. This will really flummox Reform - voting Norwich supporters.

Its not hard to decide you should not mix politics with football, especially with some one like Farage.

I can not believe no one at the club spoke up and said that this is not a good idea

I’ll be voting Reform. People can vote how they like, but I’d be just as annoyed if Keir Starmer or Zak Polankski did the same in an ITFC shirt - the club has completely misread the room and forgotten its place amongst the community.

Judging by the comments on here, it's obvious that anyone with an affiliation to the right should not be allowed to speak in public. From Trump down to Farage, from Farage down to his f***witted supporters, it's a catalogue of psycho-babble that only the ill informed, uneducated and subhuman can understand. The club has made an almighty error of judgement that will take some explaining away. And whilst I also dislike Starmer enormously,(choosing to treat them all with utter contempt) he is not a wannabee nazi who wants certain sections of the human race annihilated.

Well a few Racist people have exposed themselves on here - the Club will now come under some justified close scrutiny I would imagine.
Unimaginable OWN GOAL this.

Chepstow blue,I wonder what everyone would be saying if Kim Jong starmer paid a visit??

A wholly inadequate response. The club will know full well that this is a figure whose views are utterly abhorrent to many, if not most people. It should therefore apologise to those supporters who have been extremely upset by the appearance of this deeply unpleasant and dangerous man and his cronies at their football club. This is the most angry I have been at the club in over 50 years of supporting it.

The Cobbolds were Tories, John twice stood to be an MP in Ipswich did not make them bad people. They made this Club what it is.
