Town Issue Statement On Farage Visit
Tuesday, 24th Mar 2026 17:12

Town have issued a statement regarding last night’s visit to Portman Road by Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.

As reported earlier, a private tour of the stadium was booked with the club understood not to have initially been aware who was taking part.

They opted to still allow it to go ahead and to admit social media staff, who shot videos and photographs inside the stadium, which were released by the political party this morning via their channels.

Fans reacted angrily to their club apparently associating with and endorsing Reform with the story subsequently picked up by the national media.

The statement reads: “Ipswich Town Football Club has, over several years, hosted representatives from a range of political parties.

“The club remains apolitical and does not support or endorse any individual or party. The club will continue to engage with representatives from across the political spectrum as part of its role within the community.

“Ipswich Town is proud to be an inclusive, diverse and welcoming organisation that supports all members of the local and wider community. This commitment remains unchanged.”

This is exactly the point, SickParrot, because the statement does not equate to the club's actions in letting this happen or, indeed, perhaps inviting this to happen.

Churchmans you are very bitter and keep missing the point. Maybe you are ignoring it on purpose because it doesn't conform to your fantasy reality. I can address all your points but whats the point you are so far gone you will just twist things and argue a bad point. People like you are what is wrong with this country. Ironically complaining about fascists when you are behaving like one. Fair enough the club shouldn't side with a political party but thats not what has happened here. Seems you and the woke brigade are just freaking out because the television told you this guy was Hitler. Do yourself a favour and educate yourself. There are many resources out there that will give you more accurate information. I'm not even voting for him but hate to see ignorant people talk crap like this when they haven't spent 5 minutes finding out if any of it is true.

So back on topic the club has confirmed they do not support any political party so there is no issue. Can't be much clearer than that. Why the big freak out ? Just because the television told you to be this way? Its called virtue signalling and it is pathetic.

I have commented about this before, and if Farage and Co had booked a stadium tour because they wanted to learn how the Club is run and view the facilities, then I would not have objected. However, I have now seem some of his 'broadcast' and it is obvious that he has used the Stadium tour as a means to gain entry to the stadium then used the Club as a prop and backdrop to promote his political views. That I object to. He has abused the whole surposed purpose of the visit, compromised the Club and acted outside what he was there for - merely a tour. He has breached a trust. At worst, I think the Club is guilty of a little neievity. I'm sure the Club would not have allowed this if they had known that Farage would go way beyond his remit of attending the stadium for a tour.

Poor old club makes a statement after realising they made a mistake; politician trying to make capital for visiting ITFC , silly politician makes a silly mistakes and people vote for them ..example Starmer , Reeves , Milliband . Ah Maybe he should have visited Carrow rd first. . Calm down and accept that every realist is NOT a racist . Football is more important.

Still, as long as we are all broadly in agreement on this matter, let's move on to the next item on the agenda. And that's our entry in this year's best dressed alpaca competition.

The club statement is a complete whitewash. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence would know that Nigel Farage was going to try and make political capital out of his visit, especially with the May elections looming. I feel really angry about the whole thing . He was clearly treated differently from the way loyal supporters of the club are treated on these tours and it just feels like whoever facilitated his visit actively colluded with the publicity stunt

Who cares, my nephew (18) may be about to be deployed to Iran as part of the 182nd airborne division to Kharg Island. Real problem there, all noise over here can't do worse than Stutter as PM.

How on earth has Mark Ashton not faced the cameras and explained himself. The statement itself was anymous.

I feel for the Ladies as all excitement for Saturday has been completely erased.

I have a ticket and am minded to go because they are a superb bunch of women and giving their all. I was at Nottingham Forest away at the weekend. But if I do go, it will be with a very sick feeling.

Club ignoring all requests for comment to media and no reply to my very sincere and heartfelt email.

I feel like this could now become a moment where protests happen either on Saturday or at the Birmingham game, because one thing is for sure, every single opposition fan is going to rip us to shreds for years.

If anyone is returning their season ticket because of this trivial matter I’ll have it - provided it’s on the RIGHT side !!

Cpaz you might find that the only ones that rip you to shreds are not worth taking notice of anyway. There will be fans who wish their club was as grown up as ITFC. Imagine complaining that a politician visited a football club. Come on guys wise up. Be proud of the club because they have done nothing wrong.
