Squad Numbers Announced

Town have confirmed their squad numbers for the 2026/27 Premier League season.

New signings Issa Diop and Abdul Fatawu have been handed six and Wes Burns’s number seven respectively with Julio Enciso the number 10.

Florentino Luis gets 12, Emersonn 19, Sasa Lukic 23, Kayne van Oevelen, who is set to join Valencia on loan, 31, Kjell Scherpen 37, Daizen Maeda 38 and Abdoul Ouattara 42.

George Hirst, who is set to join Stoke, isn’t given a number, his nine having been left vacant, but Ben Johnson, who is expected to move to the Potters on loan, keeps his 18.

Ali Al-Hamadi is also left off the list with the Iraq international also expected to move on, a switch to Polish side Raków Częstochowa having broken down following his medical.

Darnell Furlong moves from 19 to number two having signed after numbers were allocated last summer, Harry Clarke the previous owner of that shirt.

Veteran keeper David Button is given 27, perhaps indicating he will play some part with the first team, most likely in cups.

Alex Palmer keeps the number one shirt, despite looking like being the third-choice keeper or moving on.

Linkboy13 added 17:52 - Aug 19 There was a time when i would have had Delap back but the club seems to be looking at a higher class of player to lead the attack Embolo would definitely be an upgrade on Delap or even the guy from Feyenoord.

Linkboy13, yep Ueda for me, have a feeling my wish list is going to be left incomplete however. Got to be worth up to £35m of anyone's money. Interesting that were clubs definitely chasing him almost2 weeks ago, and at least 2 that I know of had put bids in. Trails gone ice cold. Maybe Feyenoord are asking silly money. I know which of the two out of him and Embolo I'd have, doubt I'm getting him!

Mark added 18:52 - Aug 19 It is odd that we will probably watch Scherpen playing all season wearing 37 in goal, when we could have worn 1. I dislike unnecessarily high squad numbers almost as much as first names on shirts. :)

KiwiTractor added 20:54 - Aug 19 For those calling for Delap, he was poor here for the second half of the season and even the first half of the season, he played for himself not the team. Then he's gone downhill in his season at Chelsea - and he had a lot of good players around him there. Maybe he needs to concentrate a bit more on playing football rather than just trying to bully defenders?

hyperbrit added 04:12 - Aug 20 It's a no brainer that Delap replaces Hirst by a mile,but showing Emmerson the ropes is a huge plus and a chance for him to restart his career,but the 50 million Chelsea wants for him says more about how much a midfield free of Argentinians will cost them imo

If I remember correctly most of the team were poor in the second half of the season last time around! Taking that season as a whole there were very few highlights, Philogene came in and never looked interested from day one! The whole team looked out of their depth, Delap for me was the most capable. He was a fool for going to Chelsea! If I had to choose between no number 9 or Delap I would rather have Delap. Hopefully in the coming days a new number 9 will be revealed!

As we've not an obvious first choice out of the new Dutch keepers signed it probably makes sense to avoid putting either of them as 1.
And the Delap one is intriguing....I thought he ran out of steam when playing for us, as he was the only number 9 we had for most of the season, with Hirst injured for most of it.....he was just so knackered playing 70 minutes plus as the lone man game after game. Delap seemed to become more intent on lining up the defenders and flattening them and getting yellow cards for fun.
I thought the first few months of the season he was superb, quick, strong, got his body between opponents and the ball and keeping it from them whilst controlling the ball like a top experienced forward.......and then all the hype about who was going to buy him and how much for, was there a release clause etc. along with our impending relegation, and he stopped looking the same player.
A new manager, a new 'project' as they all seem to call it these days, and I reckon he'd do well at Town, but not for £50m....£35m max with maybe another 5 if we stay up.
