Quintet Set For Caps

Issa Diop, Abdul Fatawu, Anis Mehmeti and Sindre Walle Egeli could all add to their international caps later today with Marcelino Nunez likely to join them overnight.

Diop’s Morocco are in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying action away in Lesotho this afternoon (KO 2pm) having won their opening game 2-0 at home to Gabon on Friday, the Town central defender winning his 10th cap.

Fatawu’s Ghana were beaten 2-0 away by Cote d’Ivoire in their first match, the Blues’ winger conceding a controversial penalty.

The Black Stars host Gambia in Accra this evening (KO 5pm) with Fatawu set to take his caps tally to 34.

Mehmeti’s Albania are in Nations League action away in San Marino (KO 7.45pm) having beaten Belarus 2-0 at home on Saturday, the Town forward having come on in the 74th minute to win his sixth cap.

Sindre Walle Egeli’s Norway U21s should confirm their qualification for next summer’s European Championship in Serbia and Albania when they host Bosnia & Herzegovina this evening (KO 5pm).

Walle Egeli won his 13th U21s cap as his team drew 0-0 away in the Netherlands on Friday.

Nunez and Chile face the US in St Louis in a friendly in the early hours (KO 1am). The midfielder took his caps haul to 39 on Saturday when the Chileans were beaten 1-0 by Canada in Toronto in another friendly having been reduced to nine men.
